Hi Deidre, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Before Deidre B’s Wigs & Creations; DBWC became established I was working as a cashier at Krystal. Hair became a passion for me during a difficult time in my life, a passion that I thought that I would never have. In March of 2019, Deidre B’s Wigs & Creations was born and ready to take on the e-commerce industry. I wasn’t a known name in the city at first. As a way of building, I turned a small living room into my workspace where I worked and hosted classes. During the Global Pandemic, DBWC took on its first launch on Shopify where the brand became successful within just five months. DBWC became a powerhouse by storm, and an international business in 2021 when I hosted my first wig class in Canada. I am the living proof that your starting point doesn’t define your outcome, your consistency and destination.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was very much so a difficult one starting out. Those early days were full of uncertainty, financial struggles, and self-doubt, but they also taught me resilience and the importance of faith. Over time, I had to make intentional pauses to reflect and refine my vision, especially when I realized I wanted to do more.

I love being at home with my family at peace and getting rest. The years of overworking myself had caused some major issues within my health. I had to learn how to give myself grace. I have experienced losing things before. Those situations have caused me to suffer with anxiety and ptsd. The load of overworking myself was sort of a trauma response. A response of fear of losing what I built. That was the moment I knew that I needed to take time off to reflect, regroup and refocus.
I must say those that moments has taught me how important it is to keep God first, protect and pray over my space, balance work with self-care, stay focused, and lead my business with intention and purpose.
