Check Out Kimberly White’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly White.

Hi Kimberly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always enjoyed a good party and the happiness, smiles, and beauty it creates. In the 90s I had terrific parties with family and loved the fun times. So, last year I ventured out and decided I wanted to start a business that did just that. On August 29th my mother’s birthday I started my planning process and my love for all things beautiful. First, I began with doing picnics and felt it was okay but wanted to expand to a bit more beautiful drama. So, I visited the local planners, venues, in my area and in Atlanta, Georgia. I came across a YouTube collection and sought out a mentor to help me gain the lessons needed to be my best and find my niche. I felt that drapery would be my solid foundation. Precious Stevens with The Posh Academy took me in one of her traditional classes and on that first visit I learned so much and loved every minute. Her class was small and she could work with me 1 on 1 on my first traditional backdrop. It opened my eyes to the beauty of drapery and the planned detail and structure it offers a birthday party, shower, and a wedding. Its beauty cannot be touched. I love it and enjoy designing beautiful backdrops and being new means nothing. If you are talented you are winning in this business. I love it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been easy. The challenge has been getting others to see your vision. I learned in this transition that family, friends love you and are afraid that you will miss the mark and it’s a waste of time, and money. But if you want it bad enough you take the good with the bad and KIM. Which has been my motto for the last 15 years, Keep It Movin. Keep learning, seeking, finding, and losing. It is all okay. It’s a part of the journey of life. If you do not try you die.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am currently in the event planning business. My company’s name is “Ideal Events and Design”. I design events based on the desire of the client having their ideal event. I specialize in backdrop designs that enhance the image the client wants. I specialize in traditional and baroque styles.

I am excited to finally do what I like doing. I come from a human service background but understand that the best part of me is my creative spirit. It’s quiet and unassuming.

What sets me apart is the fact that my clients joy makes me happier than the last deposit. When the fruits of my labor create the smiles on their faces. It’s exciting.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mentor-Precious Stevens with The Posh Academy- has taught me the importance of staying the course and being open to learning and understanding the process

My immediate family play a large part and have been encouraging throughout the process. My two sons Joshua and Daniel, my sister Michele and her daughters- They love me and want the best. They are my team and happily assist me when its needed.

My support system also includes my BFFs Marjorie and Carolyn who keep me grounded but also uplifts me
