Today we’d like to introduce you to Meredith Goranson.
Hi Meredith, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Good Viking with a mission to simplify technology. After spending years in corporate IT, Anders began helping friends, family, and a few small businesses with their tech. What started as side projects quickly turned into something more. He realized he genuinely loved the work. The Good Viking was built on the idea that technology should feel simple, reliable, and tailored to the way people actually live and work, instead of one-size-fits-all.
We began helping a few people with networks and troubleshooting and have grown into a full-service AV and IT integration company. We design home theaters, whole-home audio, lighting control, and business technology systems across the Memphis area. Our mission is to make tech easy to use and build systems around the client’s needs. It is important to us to deliver what was promised and do it right.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like many growing businesses, The Good Viking hasn’t been without its challenges. In the early years, much of the work relied on word-of-mouth and project-based opportunities, which meant learning how to navigate the natural ups and downs of cash flow. As demand increased, the challenge shifted from simply doing the work to building the right systems, processes, and team to support consistent growth without losing the personal touch clients had come to expect.
There were also moments that required difficult decisions like turning down projects that weren’t the right fit, refining service offerings, and setting clearer expectations with clients. Each challenge became an opportunity to improve not just the business, but the overall experience delivered.
Today, those lessons continue to shape how The Good Viking operates, with a focus on stability, clarity, and long-term relationships over short-term wins.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At The Good Viking, we design and install technology systems that make everyday life easier, whether that’s in a home or a small business. Our work ranges from custom home theaters and whole-home audio to lighting control, networking, security, and business technology infrastructure.
What we specialize in is bringing all of those pieces together into one cohesive system. Instead of having multiple apps, remotes, or systems that don’t talk to each other, we create environments where everything works seamlessly and feels simple to use.
We’re known for making complex technology approachable. A lot of our clients come to us frustrated with systems that are overcomplicated or unreliable, and we take pride in turning that into something that works consistently, intuitively, and without hassle.
What I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve built with our clients. Many of our projects come through referrals, and we’ve been able to grow by consistently doing what we say we’re going to do and standing behind our work.
What sets us apart is our focus on the experience, not just the equipment. There are plenty of companies that can install technology, but we take the time to understand how each client lives or works and design around that. We’re not trying to fit people into a system, instead we’re building systems that fit the people using them.
At the end of the day, our goal is to make technology feel effortless.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson we’ve learned is that doing great work isn’t enough, you have to build a business that can consistently deliver it. For us, that’s come down to strong communication and solid systems. We have to set clear expectations with clients, create clear processes internally, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. When those pieces are in place, the work gets better, the experience improves, and the business becomes something that can truly grow.
