Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Watson.
Hi Keith, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Repairing phones started as a hobby for me because I have always enjoyed repairing and upgrading electronics. One day, my mother broke her iPhone, and I told her I was confident I could fix it. I ordered the necessary parts, repaired the phone successfully, and shared the experience on Facebook. After that, other people began reaching out to ask if I could repair their phones as well.
At the time, I did not have a storefront, so I traveled to my customers to provide repairs. I even visited local fire stations to repair firefighters’ phones since they were unable to leave while on duty. As demand for my services continued to grow, I realized I could no longer operate solely as a mobile business and decided to open a shop where customers could come to me directly.
Since then, I have become certified with the City of Memphis and earned certifications through Tech901. I have now been in business for more than eight years and have received two awards from the Tri-State Defender in recognition of my work and service to the community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest obstacle is inconsistent business some days are busy and others are slow. I also get outbid for some city contracts because I don’t have the man power to compete wit the larger companies.
As you know, we’re big fans of Kilowatts Technology. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in the repair of iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, and Gaming computers. I offer same day service on most repairs, the repairs are normally completed under and hour. I am 5 star rated on google, I have repaired iPads for chick-fil-a on union, Memphis dj laptops, and most of my business comes from referrals. I have won two awards from the Tri state Defender for best technology company. What sets me apart from other companies is my customer service. I offer detailed and tailored customer service to meet the needs of each customer, I also make sure that I offer competitive prices. I would like my readers to know that I offer quality repairs, great customer service, and fair prices.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I expect my business to continue growing as technology continues to evolve. I am committed to staying current by training on all new device models so I can effectively repair each one. Mobile phones will always be an essential part of everyday life, and as long as screens and components remain vulnerable to damage, there will always be a need for repair services. While manufacturers may continue to make repairs more challenging, I am confident in my ability to adapt, learn new techniques, and find solutions to overcome those challenges.
