Check Out Eli Perez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eli Perez

Hi Eli, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is David Hernandez , known in the independent Pro Wrestling scene as “Eli Perez” . I am a first generation college graduate from the University of Arkansas. I was born in Zimapan, Hidalgo Mexico and My parents came to the USA when I was young. Growing up I always wanted to be a Pro Wrestler but never know how I would get there. I grew up thinking I had to take the “safe path” , get good grades, go to college and get a corporate job. I did follow that route but got laid off from a Fortune 100 company in 2021. I took my severance and savings and moved to Orlando , Florida to train to be a Pro Wrestler at Flatbacks Wrestling School. I was trained by Tyler Breeze and Shawn Spears of WWE. Since then I have been performing and traveling , I have performed in 11 states and in 4 cities and Canada. I have also performed at music festivals and done extra work for AEW. I have my own wrestling ring and training facility called Mutiny Wrestling Federation where I help others get started on this crazy path of Pro Wrestling.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth or easy path. Independent Pro Wrestling can get very lonely at times as you travel a lot and may miss important events. It is also financially difficult to get started as if you want professional training, gear (costumes wrestlers wear) , Promotional photographs and traveling. It is also physically demanding which means a lot rest and recovery when not in the ring or gym.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an Independent Pro Wrestler. I am a singles and tag wrestler. I am Eli “The Dreamboat” Perez . I am most proud of the Promo videos I have made as I always aim to make videos that I would enjoy as a fan. I have a large influence from media that I grew up on . I have done some exciting things like getting to wrestle in the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. I am the most proud of being the first ever match for Control Your Narrative in a packed out Tin Roof Orlando in Icon Park. My tag partner and I are best of friends and I know our chemistry shows in videos and in our matches.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Love doing what you are doing and being able to do it, is success to me.
