Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamera Lakes.
Hi Tamera, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi, my name is Tamera Lakes, I’m a 32 years old full-time mother, wife, and entrepreneur.
I was born in Memphis, TN and now reside in MS. I graduated with an associate’s degree in Health Care. I always knew I wanted to become a nurse, but God had other plans. I later received my bachelor’s degree from The University of Memphis. I continued my education by pursuing a master’s at The University of Memphis, and I decided to take a mental break after completing my first semester.
Fast forward, I’ve always been passionate about decorating so I started making flower arrangements, baskets, and wreaths, but I knew there was more for me, I enjoyed what I did at the time, however, I wasn’t satisfied. Deep down I knew interior decorating was best and I would second guess myself. (How do you go from starting your career off with nursing and ending it with being an interior decorator?).
I also reminded myself you can also be passionate about another career path that’s the total opposite of what you love to do. I never considered putting forward my talent because of fear and I figured since I didn’t know the key concepts of Interior design. I took a course and later received my certification. After completing my course, there was more I couldn’t stop. I knew as well as other women.
We love a nice elegant throw pillow for our home! So I began looking into starting my own Luxury pillow collection.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I first started out on this journey I never thought once about how hard it would be, but I knew this wouldn’t be easy! No, it wasn’t a smooth road but “Yes” I struggled with FEAR.
Yes, I struggled with ANXIETY and Yes there were thoughts of FAILURE! I was in the process of rebranding my entire business and I knew if I allowed FEAR to take over, I would relive my past. I started to FOCUS more and took ACTION!
I knew this journey would change my life and I challenged myself to always think positive, to make it work.

Luxury Interior by TL strives to create a unique design for each client. My goal is to go above and beyond my clients’ expectations and leave a positive impact by creating timeless space.
I have an eye for quality, details, and a sense of knowledge and skills enabling me to deliver and follow through with my completion of each aspect of the design decision. My vision processes whether it’s personal space or commercial properties. I’m committed to cultivating my client’s needs and expectations.
