Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerome Ewing.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Born in Chicago August 24 1957 the 2nd of 4 kids , after moving around between 1973-1977 , Ewing ended up in Memphis TN , he returned to college for 2 years, then he moved to Atlanta at the right time 1986, than he gets a job with Motown records, where he became one of the best photographers in the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I left Memphis in the mid 80s ,with $127 dollars in my pocket moving to Atlanta, where I had to sleep in my car
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have been a Photographer for over 40 years , I had a lot of ups and downs over the years, which includes becoming LA face Records 1st photographer, working with TLC ,Toni Braxton, Usher and more , in 1988 MCA records bought, Motown records, so now I was working with, Bobby Brown, Boyz LL Men , Guy , and New Edition to name a few , my career had took off, I was in the right place at the right time, from homeless to the top of the mountain in two years, than in 1991 I got married, had a son in 1993 , that had to be the peak of my life , before I left Atlanta and moved back to Memphis, I was giving my biggest gift, hired by Jermaine Dupri for his 4 day birthday celebration in 1999, as head photographer, I had to cover a lot of ground by myself, but what a historic event, here are some of the stars that was there, Jay Z , P Diddy, Ice Cube, Usher , Lisa Raye , Da Brat , TLC , Nelly , T. I. Alicia keys and so many more.
