Hidden Gems: Meet MaGwenta Tay Moore of Sensory Treasures Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to MaGwenta Tay Moore.

Hi MaGwenta Tay, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sensory Treasures Co. began from real life, not a traditional business plan. My journey to where I am today was shaped by motherhood, advocacy, and learning to create solutions out of necessity.

As a mother to a neurodivergent child, I quickly realized how limited, expensive, and impersonal many sensory and educational resources were. I often felt like I had to figure things out on my own while advocating for my child’s needs. When I couldn’t find books and tools that truly supported my child or reflected families like ours, I began creating them myself.

What started as something personal soon connected with other parents who were experiencing the same challenges. That’s when Sensory Treasures Co. evolved into a purpose-driven brand focused on sensory-friendly resources, inclusive storytelling, and community support. Every product and initiative is rooted in lived experience and designed to help children feel understood while helping parents feel less alone.

The journey hasn’t been linear or easy, but it’s been intentional. Each step, the challenges, the growth, and the lessons led me to build a brand grounded in empathy, representation, and impact. Sensory Treasures Co. is not just what I do; it’s a reflection of my story and the community I aim to serve.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, it’s been a real one. Balancing motherhood, advocacy, and entrepreneurship came with emotional, financial, and mental challenges. There were moments of doubt, exhaustion, and uncertainty, especially while trying to build something meaningful without a blueprint or large support system.

One of the biggest struggles was navigating limited resources while still wanting to give my child and others the best possible support. I also had to learn everything as I went, from creating products to building a brand, all while showing up fully as a parent. There were seasons where progress felt slow and the work went unseen, but those moments strengthened my purpose rather than discouraging it.

Throughout the journey, I’ve leaned on my faith, often reminding myself of Galatians 6:9: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” That verse carried me through the harder seasons and continues to guide how I move forward.

Every challenge shaped the heart of Sensory Treasures Co. The struggles taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of community. While the journey hasn’t been easy, it’s been deeply meaningful, and each obstacle reaffirmed why this work matters.

As you know, we’re big fans of Sensory Treasures Co. . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Sensory Treasures Co. is a purpose-driven children’s brand centered on empathy, inclusion, and real-life experience. We specialize in sensory-friendly books, toys, and educational resources designed to support children who learn differently and the families who advocate for them every day.

What sets us apart is that everything we offer is rooted in lived experience. I’m not curating from a distance, I’m creating from within the community I serve. Two of our core offerings are my self-authored children’s books, Christian’s Amazing World and Christian and the Potty Watch, both inspired by my son and written to support confidence, routine-building, and everyday developmental milestones through relatable storytelling and representation.

Beyond our books, our sensory tools are intentionally selected to support emotional regulation, learning, and development in ways that feel accessible rather than overwhelming. Each product reflects our mission to meet children where they are and help parents feel supported in their journey.

Sensory Treasures Co. is also deeply rooted in community impact. Giving back is a core part of our mission through giveaways, outreach, and making resources more attainable for families who may not otherwise have access. This brand was built to support parents who are often navigating these journeys quietly and children who deserve to feel understood instead of labeled.

What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is that Sensory Treasures Co. leads with heart. We don’t follow trends we follow purpose. Every book, product, and initiative is designed to affirm children, uplift parents, and remind families that they are not alone.

What I want readers to know is that Sensory Treasures Co. is more than a brand, it’s a reflection of real families, real challenges, and real love. Our offerings are intentional, our mission is personal, and our goal is lasting impact, not just sales.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to trust purpose over pressure. I used to feel like I had to move fast, do everything at once, or measure success by what others were doing. Along this journey, I’ve learned that building something meaningful requires patience, obedience, and staying aligned with why you started even when progress feels slow.

I’ve also learned that impact matters more than perfection. Showing up authentically, even in unfinished seasons, creates deeper connection and lasting growth. When I focused on serving with intention rather than chasing validation, everything began to align.

This journey taught me that when you build from purpose and lead with heart, the right doors open at the right time and the growth that comes is sustainable, not rushed.
