Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Kidd.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started in the world of health insurance in 2017 as the office manager of Gary Alford Insurance where we helped people with the traditional side of Medicare (Medicare Supplements and Part D Prescription plans). My husband was beginning his Medicare journey in August 2017, so this was the perfect fit to be able to learn how this whole Medicare thing worked and help my husband with is decisions. I got licensed in the summer of 2021 with the intention to be a more well-rounded office manager, but like most things that’s not exactly what happened. Gary ended up selling his agency in December 2021 and in May 2022 I transitioned away from the agency. It wasn’t an easy transition, but has been well worth it. I jumped head first into the community and have been highly involved with some of the local Chambers of Commerce and other business and/or service organizations. My hard work and involvement as resulted in numerous awards and I have helped hundreds of people make sense out of the nonsense surrounding health insurance and find coverage that fits their needs.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Is anything every completely smooth? There have been ups and downs along the way, but worth every minute. Most of the struggles have been around just trying to figure things out. The first year (and to an extent now) I was throwing anything and everything out to figure out what worked. Now it’s fine tuning the things that I know work and trying new things to broaden reach. Still struggle with the “do it all” mentality and driven by the “get stuff done” mentality. I’ve learned there are times in life when you can have the best laid out game plan and then something happens and you figure it out and keep going.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Independent health & life insurance broker, licensed in 12 states (MS, TN, AR, AL, GA, FL, LA, TX, MO, MD, CO, & WY)
I make sense out of the nonsense surrounding health insurance. I specialize in helping individuals navigate the Medicare maze and offer an unique perspective due to my spouse being on Medicare and managing a Medicare supplement agency for 5 yeas.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
First and always, the good Lord, because He will always make beauty from ashes if you allow Him and trust that His way is always better.
My husband, Levi, for supporting me and being the reason I started down this path of helping people navigate health insurance due to him starting his Medicare journey due to disability at the age of 42.
My parents and family for always believing in me and trusting me to help them with their insurance needs too.
Denise Silas, Empowered by DS – for giving me a safe place and a community of women to grow with and become the best version of myself
Clients – without them trusting me to help them, I’d be no where
Bryce Dickerson – for being my sounding board and pushing me to the next level
Chad Engelke with Pure Focus Media for helping me diversify marketing avenues.
