Inspiring Conversations with Pamla McNeer of McNeer & Crews Financial

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamla McNeer.

Hi Pamla, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started McNeer & Crews in 2021, but bookkeeping has been part of my life for over 20 years. At the time, I was looking for something that allowed me to do what I loved while also giving me the flexibility to be present as a mom of five. Bookkeeping was the natural choice—it was familiar, meaningful, and something I truly enjoyed—so I jumped in.

What I didn’t realize was that starting a business is an entirely different challenge than simply being skilled at a trade. I had to learn how to run a business, and that has been the biggest learning curve. Entrepreneurship is simple, but it’s not easy. Making it past the five-year mark is a real test of grit and determination. I’m in year four now, and the journey has been both terrifying and exhilarating—though never at the same time!

For me, this isn’t just about money—it’s about freedom and legacy. I’ve always known I wasn’t built to be an employee. My family comes first, and with five kids, most employers see that as a conflict. Building my own business means I never have to choose. It gives me the freedom to show up for my children, provide for them, and at the same time, create something lasting that they can carry forward.

McNeer & Crews is more than a bookkeeping and tax firm—it’s a family business built on flexibility, security, and vision. We’re growing into something that will serve the community for years to come. It’s an exciting time to be a business owner with a dream, a plan, and the courage to put in the work.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all—it’s been anything but smooth. My biggest struggle has been building a client base. In this industry, people are very loyal to their tax professional, bookkeeper, or accountant. And honestly, they should be—those relationships are built on trust, and most people don’t switch until their advisor retires. That means growth is really a game of time, reputation, and patience.

I’ve focused on making sure people know I’m here, showing up consistently, and building trust in the community. Word of mouth has been my strongest advertiser. More and more, I hear things like, ‘My accountant is retiring—can you help?’ or, ‘My CPA doesn’t handle this, do you?’ And the answer is yes—right now, we’re welcoming new clients who are looking for not just tax prep or bookkeeping, but a trusted partner for the long run.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At McNeer & Crews, we’re not just about numbers—we’re about the whole health of your business. Think of us as the holistic doctor for your company. We provide the essentials—cleaning up accounts, day-to-day bookkeeping, financial clarity, and tax preparation—but we also go beyond. We believe true success comes when finances and mindset align, so we offer mindset coaching and motivational speaking for business owners, teams, and organizations. That combination keeps people motivated, focused, and working together toward shared goals.

Our specialty is small business bookkeeping—primarily businesses with fewer than 20 employees. This year, we’ve done a lot of cleanups and state tax filings, and we love rolling up our sleeves to help clients get clarity and peace of mind.

What sets us apart, though, is how we do the work. Our motto comes from Colossians 3:23: ‘And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the LORD, and not unto men:’ That’s the foundation of our business. Every set of books, every client meeting, every speaking event—we approach it with excellence, integrity, and a genuine heart for people.

The part I’m most proud of is the relationships we build. Our clients are never just a number or a dollar sign to us. Their success matters—not only for their own future but also for the ripple effect it creates in the community. When small businesses thrive, families are stronger and communities grow closer. That’s what McNeer & Crews is about: Mindset, Money, and Motivation, all working together to build something lasting.
