Meet Canisha Harris of LCPB Financial Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Canisha Harris.

Hi Canisha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I am a wife, mother, Christ believer, friend, sister, and business owner. Life has given me many titles and I do my best to make sure I find balance. I was born and raised in Little Rock, AR and recently moved to Memphis, TN. I always knew I wanted to work for myself. I just did not know what I wanted to do exactly. Around 2017, I started to strengthen my relationship with God. I heard the scripture Jeremiah 29:11 for the first time and started to believe that God created me with a purpose. If I wanted to figure out what that purpose was, I would have to ask the source.

I remember being at work one day and asking God to reveal to me what my purpose was. Then the thought of helping people with their finances became clear to me. At this time, I had accounts payable experience. I did not have any type of investing or advising experience.

From there, I started taking financial planning courses at a local university. I loved what I was learning. I then went on to work for a bank as a financial consultant. It was during that time that it became even more apparent that people needed financial literacy.

Since that time, God has given me ideas and helped me to structure LCPB.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all. Working for yourself is not easy. With LCPB, I want to help youth and young adults learn about finances before they make big mistakes. In reality, my target clients do not have the funds to pay me. I have had to restructure things a few times, but I am finally on a path that seems to be working for everyone involved.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about LCPB Financial Services LLC?
At LCPB Financial Services LLC, we encourage Living freely, Creating legacies, Prospering together, and Building wealth. We provide the knowledge and resources needed in order to eliminate financial stress. I believe that in order to do better regarding your finances, you must first change your mindset. Otherwise, everything that I teach will not resonate with you. I teach youth and young adults about the importance of using their money as a tool.

Money should be viewed more like a seed and should not just be used for consumption. I am known for my ability to make financial literacy topics easy to understand and relatable to those who do not have a strong financial understanding. My personality sets me apart from others. Learning about finances can be boring at times. I make the topic fun because that is the best way to learn new information. I am most proud of the responses I receive after a session or one on one. Knowing that the audience learned something that they never knew before is the best feeling I have ever experienced while working. I want readers to know that I am here and available.

If there is a youth program or college program that wants to educate their group about finances, please reach out to me. If there is anyone out there who wants to take an affordable class on a financial topic such as investing, budgeting, credit, or job benefits, I am here. I want to help as many people as possible become financially literate so that they can help the generations after them. It is time for generations to stop learning things the hard way and start building on knowledge so that we all prosper.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Being authentic. Not putting up a false perception of knowing everything there is to know about finances, but still being about to help people make better choices.
