Today we’d like to introduce you to Clase Baja.
Hi Clase, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We’re a band of 4 guys. We play regional Mexican music but we have our own very unique and authentic style in each song. We started with me, Norberto Solis (singer), and Dennis Ramos (bassist).
We are looking to just start a cumbia group and keep it local but then I met Kevin and Woody (guitarists) on Snapchat and quickly realized we found some unique songwriters and decided to take on their style. At first, we were just having to get-togethers in my garage for about a month before we decided to make it official.
There’s a lot in between then and now but right now we have 3 officially released singles and have had a couple of good fun shows even opening for Fuerza Regida which was amazing and the night we realized we LOVED the big stage and we’re working for more.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Time and money! If we had both, we would be way farther than we are now.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well like I said we have a unique authentic style in EACH song.
Still trying to keep it to where it’s traditional but with our own unique vibe when we write. We don’t want to sound like everybody else and it just naturally happens.
We have a lot of unreleased music we want to share with the world!
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
The bassist and I (singer) are in the Mexika (Aztec) tradition.
And we both like plants and we argue about everything. The guitarists are best friends even with an age gap, Woody being 16 and Kevin being 24. Woody is actually just helping us. He’s actually going solo soon and has some really good songs.
He and Kevin really flow perfectly on guitar. It’s like they’re in each other’s heads when they’re playing.
