Meet Hether Jenkins of Little Rock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hether Jenkins.

Hi Hether, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I taught math at Little Rock Central High School for 18 years, and while I loved it, I always longed for an opportunity to be more creative. Photography had always been my first love, but I had only considered it a personal passion. I started doing some investigating on what having my own photography business would look like and mean for me and my family. Being an educator, I knew that expanding my knowledge of photography, editing and business management was the only way to really get things going. So I started taking classes and investing in my future. That was in 2018. Now I have a successful wedding photography business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I guess I would say more growing pains than struggle. Starting a new business takes time. I know I wasted a lot of time and money in the beginning because I was so eager and felt like I had to do everything all at once. Now I take the time to think through who I want to be as an artist and make decisions that support that goal, and not just what I might see other business owners doing.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a wedding photographer, I am known for my candid, editorial style and my client relations. I work really hard to create a good client experience for every couple that i work with. I am honored to be a part of their love story and I try to treat each couple in a way that reflects that.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Well, I gave up a tenured position with a great retirement and insurance for the opportunity to be more creative. LOl, It was terrifying walking away from my teaching position, and most would call it a huge risk. But honestly I never looked at it that way. It was just something that I had to do, like breathing. It was very involuntary
