Hi Kate, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Kate Jewell, the owner, lead designer, and driving force behind Jewell Design Co.
Like many interior designers, interior design has been a life-long passion of mine. As a child, I would sit with Pottery Barn magazines for hours marking up the pages with ideas for my childhood bedroom. Looking back, I should have known interior design was my best creative outlet.
After receiving my Bachelor of Art from the University of Louisville, I wanted to dive further into interior design and learn the technical side. I received a certification in interior design, which grew my knowledge and appreciation for the field.
After a strong urge from friends and family, I launched Jewell Design Company!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think starting a business is ever an easy process, but it has been more rewarding than I could have imagined.
Like many entrepreneurs, the most difficult part was simply taking the first steps to start my own business. There were so many unknowns, the fear of failure, and self-doubt but ultimately, I knew this is exactly where I was supposed to be.
I always kept one of my dearest friends’ words in mind, “Be afraid. Do it anyway,” and since the beginning, I have held tight to those words.

Jewell Design Co is a Memphis-based interior design studio known for its signature style, an edgy take on modern traditionalism. Our passion is creating authentic spaces for each client through achievable & approachable design.
Jewell Design Company’s collaborative design process allows us to curate spaces unique to each client’s lifestyle.
Our design services range from new constructions and large-scale renovations to paint consultations and styling. We know the details of each project are as different as the clients we serve, so our design services are curated to each client’s individual needs.
