Meet Penny Rash of North Memphis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Penny Rash.

Hi Penny, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I am a wife, a mom of 6 children and 14 grandchildren. I moved to Memphis from Rochester NY in 2012 with my husband and our youngest daughter. I worked retail when I first arrived in Memphis and to my shocked that minimum wage (7.35) still existent. I did not work retail very long, but I enjoyed working with the customers. I had been a medical reception for over 18 yrs. before moving to Memphis, so I started back working as a medical receptionist for the next 4 yrs. I always wanted to do real estate but was afraid to pursue my dream. In November 2017 I created a vision board. On my vision board I put on there I wanted to work in real estate within one year along with my name that I would use. At that time, I had not signed up for school nor did I have the money for it. I started a go fund me page lol. I think I received maybe $140.00. The cost of the school was a little over $400.00. I managed to get the money. I started classes in March of 2018 finished in May of 2018. I took the exam in June passed the state portion and failed the national. Two week later I took the national again and failed. July, I took the national again and failed. I had to wait 30 days to retake the exam this time I had to retake both. I retook both in September this time I passed the national but fail the state. I was not able to take the state until October. When I took the state test in October I passed. November 2018 I was an official real estate agent. Every time I failed, I never got discouraged but detriment. I never gave up because I was detriment to finish what I had started at the age of 54. One thing I have learn is that it’s never too late to pursue your dream. I can say dreams do come true.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My first year in real estate 2019 was great I sold 6 homes I was on a roll and 2020 came and all of the client I had backed off their deals. I had no sales in 2020. I had to pivot and refocus on how to be creative in the real estate market. 2021 has been a pretty good year so far.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a real estate agent in Memphis TN and the surrounding area. I help those looking to purchase a home or sell their home as well as work with investors. I specialize in real estate. What sets me apart from other is I look for unconventional ways to be creative in my business.
