Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Clark.
Hi Monique, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My two sons that are on the spectrum were the driving power behind my platform Authentic Empowerment. The goal and vision behind it what to help parents notice the signs of autism early on and how to implement early interventions
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Goodness no. It has not been a smooth road but acknowledging the issue that autism is very much real and within the community seems to be a running stigma and people do not want to actively put it out there that there is an issue. Some of the biggest struggles along the way have been that autism, even though it is not brand new with an our generation within our parents and grandparents generation there really was not a name for it so in their opinion, it did not exist, but it is very much a disability and it is very much prevalent.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work at Quipt home medical, a durable medical equipment company, where I am the intake customer service specialist. I help loved ones transition from hospital care to being able to take care of themselves and loved ones in the home setting. What set me apart is my application for anyone on the spectrum? Where will that be early intervention to make sure that they get the proper therapies that are needed to help them later in life or having special events to promote inclusion
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The best thing I love about my city is it is a small town so everybody knows everybody or they grew up around relatives of ours. But it is also one of the things that at least like because it is a small town and doesn’t see a lot of growth.
