Rising Stars: Meet TMack of East Memphis

Today we’d like to introduce you to TMack.

Hi TMack, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started producing and recording myself in high school learning as I went. I had a foundation in music from taking violin and saxophone classes in school, participating in the band in middle school. I was able to develop a solid foundation on recording and mixing due to my uncle David Payne allowing me to use his recording studio in Whitehaven. This also opened the door for me to work with artists like Mac E from North Memphis, resulting in me featuring on, producing and engineering his album “Da Comeback” distributed by Select-0-Hits. After this I was able to meet 8Ball & MJG and produce for them as well and work as an in house engineer. I produced the album “This Might Be The Day” for MJG and the EP “All I Do” as well as numerous singles for 8Ball & MJG including “Let’s go get this money” and “For The Longest Time”. This continued by opening the door for me to produce for artist like Don Trip, Kinfolk Thugs, Daz Dillinger, Young Dolph, Young Thug, Slim from 112, Glasses Malone and more.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road but nothing that I regret. I would say that most of the struggles along the way are mental. Music has always been therapy for me and something that made me happy just participating in the process. As this turned more into the music business vs just something to do for fun is when things got interesting. The business is so challenging to navigate when you are just “chasing a dream”. I had to start separating the music from the music business to get a better idea of how to navigate and when to remove my feelings from the equation.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Music has never felt like a career choice for me — it feels like something that’s been living in my blood long before I ever touched a mic or a mixing console. I grew up hearing stories about a man from Memphis, a quiet giant with a horn who helped shape some of the most iconic soul records ever made. I don’t know if our connection is biological, spiritual, or just the universe whispering, but I’ve always felt like whatever lived in him didn’t stop with him. It shows up in me.

That sense of legacy is at the heart of everything I do.
As a producer, recording artist, and engineer, I’m not just building beats or mixing vocals — I’m creating worlds. I approach every record with the same intention and soulfulness I imagine he brought to his horn: tone, emotion, and feeling first. My work blends the grit and warmth of Memphis with modern precision, cinematic textures, and the perspective of someone who lives on both sides of the glass.

I’ve produced full albums for southern legends, built a high-end studio from the ground up, and developed a vocal and mixing style that artists trust because it’s rooted in authenticity. But what I’m most proud of is that I’ve done all of this independently — no shortcuts, no handouts — just a commitment to honoring the sound that raised me.

What sets me apart is that I carry the past into the future.
I’m not just making records; I’m continuing a story I may or may not be literally tied to, but one that I feel connected to on a deeper level. When people hear my work, I want them to feel the soul, the grit, and the heritage of Memphis — and also the evolution of it through my own voice and vision.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I have a serving spirit so it makes me happy to see others happy, I know that sounds cliche but it is in my blood. At this age I believe we were put here not to serve ourselves but to bring value to the world. That is what makes me happy and what I strive to do everyday in my work.
