Daily Inspiration: Meet Treasur Wright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Treasur Wright.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I got started initially in the church playing the drums, singing, and even performing overseas. Branching into my own I signed to an independent label in which I worked with state-of-the-art producers eventually landing me in different arenas across the states with a radio hit and viral video with label mate. Coming out of the deal, I competed in world-known singing competitions as well as honed my acting and modeling skills in different plays as well as doing the background in different shows and published in magazines.

Currently, I am writing for other artists, hosting my own radio show, and continuing to put out music and even films that I directed along the way. What’s to come is headlining for industry artists, video cameos, co-directing, and just continuing to create a stamp in the industry with a smooth, fresh look.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing worth having is easy, I think as artists when we first come into it we are still getting to know ourselves and the business at the same time so it’s a bunch of trial and error along the way. I think my main struggle was the common obstacle of not only being heard with the music but being paid by the business.

Learning that the industry is essentially a dog-eat dog and you pay for more of what you don’t know than what you do but once educated and able to be instructed in the right way adds confidence to any idea.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My body of work has arms and legs that reach past just singing and performing. In fact, it goes into me writing not only my own songs but for other people and scripts as well. This ties into the acting that I do whether it’s extra work on Starz and Fox or a theater play.

Walking into that is where the love for modeling was birthed going viral in the virtual world of Janet Jackson and the classic show “Girlfriends” with my creative direction then stepping into radio where I am hosting on one of the city’s most known platforms with my own segment.

What sets me apart the most is that I am a 3 dimensional when it comes to the arts I can be in a room and be used effectively for whatever project is presented in excellence because I’ve practiced.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was something else! Always been in music because I started when I was 5 my parents were deeply involved musically in the church so I followed in their footsteps for the initial first half of my life.

I was outspoken, creative, competitive, and athletic, really outside of sports that I played all the way up until the end of high school my interests have never really swayed it has always been about music and acting because I was dramatic, expressive, and really one of a kind… luckily I still am just maybe a bit more of a listener which helps in this business.
