Hi Rayquesha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Coming up I was always told I had beautiful skin on into my adulthood and unfortunately that was not the case for my daughter, My passion to find something to treat her eczema lead me the beauty industry, as I was researching I absolutely fell in love with everything skincare. I talked to a few seasoned estheticians that gave me recommendations and I started touring schools, I finally picked a school and the admission representative asked what I wanted to specialize in and I was as lost as Dorothy in the Wiz, so I went home and facials intrigued me more than anything so facials it was. After I started school, I still loved facials I used to do all my classmates facials and their assigned facials, loving the way you can see skin transform. So having my heart set on being a skin changer I went out & got my first suite which unfortunately didn’t work out for me and was a money pit. I was crushed so I took some time off to regroup and find a better location now business is booming and I absolutely love the work I do & seeing my clients faces when I hand them the mirror.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, being a solo esthetician straight out of school is not a smooth road,it’s like going down Winchester you may have a smooth ride well as in some areas you gone have a lot of bumps. When I originally started I just jumped out there with a large overhead and no clients, over time hard work and dedication got me to where I am now. I cried a lot of nights because the girls make it look so easy on TikTok and Instagram and in actual reality you have to do the work, you have take the classes to learn more and be the best. Overall never give up in your dream, no matter the circumstance.

I am Rayquesha and I own Especially Aesthetic, I am a solo esthetician that loves to see people have healthy skin. I specialize in skin changing facials, speed waxing and permanent makeup. I’m known for helping you giving you that boost in your confidence by having a licensed professional that cares about your skins health as well as your mental health. I take pride in everyone that comes in my doors leave out feeling Very Beautiful hence the name Especially Aesthetic. What sets me apart from others is everyone is welcome to come experience the best, I service people from all ethnicities, different backgrounds and I can’t forget my members of the LGBTQ+ community. I believe that everyone should look and feel Beautiful.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
My take away from the crisis is to always learn to adapt, During Covid I read many books and learned so much, but my most important lesson was always remain teachable.
