Life & Work with Bre McGlown of Memphis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bre McGlown

Hi Bre, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began working out over 15 years ago while in college. From the age of 5 to 18, I was a dedicated ballet dancer, but after high school, I stopped due to burnout. Once I got to college, I gained over 15 pounds during my freshman year, which motivated me to commit to a healthier lifestyle—not just for appearance but for overall well-being.

Fast forward to 2020-2021, my husband and I were expecting our first child. Staying active during pregnancy was challenging, especially with gym closures and restrictions due to COVID. Despite this, I was determined to keep working out, and I did. However, shortly after giving birth, I was diagnosed with preeclampsia and hospitalized for five days on a magnesium drip. During my pregnancy, I gained over 40 pounds, going from 160 to 200 pounds. Over the next three years, I not only lost all the weight but exceeded my goal, reaching 145 pounds with a body fat percentage of 19%.

Now, pregnant with our second child, I feel stronger than ever. Thanks to the preparation and consistency I maintained over the past year and a half, I’m still working out twice a day. My goal was to build stamina and stay active throughout this pregnancy, and so far, I’ve been successful. More than anything, I believe in leading by example—showcasing a commitment to health and discipline for my family to look up to and be inspired by.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was having a C-section. I had always taken pride in being active and strong, so undergoing surgery felt like starting over. It wasn’t just about regaining physical strength—it was a mental battle above all. Relearning how to move, rebuild my core, and trust my body again was a journey that tested me in ways I never expected.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a multifaceted individual—a data scientist with a master’s degree in mathematics and a fitness athlete. Balancing both worlds sets me apart, combining analytical precision with physical discipline. With over 10 years of experience in data science, I’ve also ventured into entrepreneurship as the founder of **SS Sculpt**, an activewear brand born in Memphis and based in Miami.

SS Sculpt was created with a mission: to provide women with high-quality, affordable activewear designed to sculpt and support. We offer styles comparable to top competitors but at a fraction of the price, ensuring women can feel confident and comfortable in their workout gear without overspending.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned on my journey is to stay focused on *your* goals—no one else’s. Avoid distractions from the outside world and keep your eyes on the vision you’ve set for yourself. Stay committed, stay driven, and never lose sight of your dream.
