Check Out Ben Brown Jr.’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Brown Jr.

Hi Ben, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Although my background is in mathematics and applied statistics, I’ve gradually grown a passion for film and TV production. Starting out in 2018 with a trivial DLSR camera from a pawn shop, I’ve been fortunate enough to develop my skills and networks to be able to expand my access to the industry.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I feel tremendously guilty for labeling this as a challenge or obstacle – certainly there are more pressing issues in the world – but the most taxing challenge for me has been identifying an appropriate balance of financial stability while also pursuing my passion. Though my academic pursuits have provided a master’s degree in statistics, with a wide range of technical and analytical abilities, I had found myself unenthused showing up to work each day within the corporate world. My thoughts were consistently related to creating masterful imagery. Finding that balance is still quite difficult, but with a strong support system and structure to align myself with, I’ve gained more confidence in my ability to be financially free while doing what I love.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In my most innate form, I’m a portrait photographer. I specialize in using lighting, color, and set design to satisfy marketing and digital content needs. I’m also prideful of my ability to connect with clients on a more personal level – which enables them to be their most authentic self and provide authentic emotions for the picture taking process. I believe that this ability is more pertinent than my lighting abilities, because how the subject looks is the most important component of a portrait.

How do you think about luck?
I would say that luck has had little effect in life and business. I feel that my actions in life have been the catalyst to my successes and failures. I do believe in divine intervention, and I’m sure that God has orchestrated my life based on his will.
