Check Out Caroline Pillow’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Pillow

Hi Caroline, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Caroline Pillow is an actor, director, and singer born and raised in Memphis, TN. She started out performing in her elementary school plays then gradually moved to community theatre and the shows at her high school. She was accepted to Oklahoma City University where she pursued her Bachelor’s of Music in Musical Theatre and her minor in Theatrical Directing. While she was there, she had the opportunity to perform in numerous shows and directed several small works. Caroline even got to direct a full length show in March 2024. During the summer, she was able to teach at Playhouse on the Square in their summer conservatory programs. After graduating in May 2024, Caroline had the opportunity to intern at the Texas Shakespeare Festival, performed in Theatre Memphis’ production of “Grease” to sold out crowds, and worked in the box office and created social media content at Germantown Community Theatre. Caroline also owns a small business called “Pillow Lettering”, where she makes personalized signage for weddings, engagements, showers, graduations, adoptions, and much more!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think if life was a smooth road, it would be a boring ride. Naturally, I have experienced a lot of left turns, 180s, and much more. I had a vocal injury March of 2021 where I almost had to stop performing all together. But with a wonderful support system and a lot of hard work, I was able to grow and learn because of it. Now, I’m much stronger than I ever could’ve been without it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a performer first and foremost! I have performed across the city of Memphis and across the country. Now, I’m in another state trying to pursue a professional acting career while supporting myself. I believe that my enthusiasm and my heart set me apart. I will be your biggest supporter and I will cheer you on when you’re feeling down.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Again, if life was a smooth ride, it’d be incredibly boring! I’m all for taking risks and I believe that it is the best way for an individual to grow. While taking risks isn’t what I’m known for, risks allow me to discover who I am outside of the comfort of my little bubble. I’d say my biggest risk I’ve taken is moving from Memphis to a town where I know virtually no one in pursuit of my craft! It’s a big leap, but one I’m willing to take.
