Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Lee.
Hi Chase, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m originally from Memphis, and music has always been a big part of my life. I started band in middle school and stayed with it all the way to Texas Southern University where I studied music, and that experience really laid the foundation for everything I do now. Over time, I found myself drawn to work that supports people emotionally—especially around stress and mental health. That led me into education and behavioral health, where I started seeing just how much people are carrying day to day in our city. I wanted to offer something that could really help people feel more grounded, and that’s what brought me to sound healing. Now, I use sound to help folks slow down, release, and reconnect with themselves.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The up’s and down’s of building a business are real! Outside of the yoga and holistic health community, sound healing is something very new to people. The majority of my time with building my business is educating others about what sound healing consists of and how it could help people. Although I’ve had some opposition to it (mostly due to misunderstandings about sound healing due to religious views), I’ve met some great people and made some business connections along the way.
Another struggle was finding a space to host my practice. Most of my sound bath sessions have been at special events and other venues, but I really desired a space of my own. I was gonna let that go for a while and just offer in-home sessions. I was a vendor at an event and many people told me something that I didn’t even think about: many people can’t relieve stress at home when their home life IS the stress. That pushed me to keep searching for a space. I was very lucky to find a suitable space in the Downtown area.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a sound healer, flutist, and elementary music educator. Through my business, SOUNDSAGE, I focus on helping people find moments of peace, clarity, and emotional release through sound. I offer sound bath sessions for individuals, families, and groups, including children and people navigating high-stress or emotionally challenging situations. I also offer handmade candles, gemstones, and copper jewelry.
One opportunity I’m especially proud of was being invited to provide sound bath sessions at the Orpheum Theatre for the Mending Hearts Camp—a performing arts camp for children who’ve lost one or both parents. It was a powerful reminder of how healing sound can be, even in the most tender moments.
What I believe sets me apart from others is the combination of my background in music, education, and behavioral health (and a little bit of security work, too). I bring a grounded, heart-centered approach to each session, and I’m always thinking about how to make sound healing more accessible to people who may not have experienced anything like it before—especially in my hometown of Memphis. I truly believe in creating spaces where people can pause, process, and reconnect.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Memphis is a place with so many awesome people. There are small business owners just like me who seek to not only build their own dreams, but help revitalize this city as a whole. Despite what may be shown in the media, there are great people doing great things in Memphis. Support small businesses in any way that you can. It all helps the greater good!
