Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Freeman
Hi Chris, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into fitness and coaching started with my own personal commitment to self-improvement and discipline. As a police officer with the Memphis Police Department for the past 10 years, physical fitness has always been a critical part of my career. Over time, I developed a passion for training and mentoring others, which led me to pursue my certification as a personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), as well as becoming a certified Law Enforcement Physical Fitness Instructor.
What started as helping colleagues and friends improve their fitness turned into a true calling. I realized that many people, especially women new to working out, felt overwhelmed by the process of getting started. I wanted to bridge that gap and create a supportive, structured program to guide them step by step. That’s how Chris Freeman Fitness and my online program The StrongHer Journey were born.
My approach is all about building confidence through strength—both physically and mentally. I’ve built my business around personalized coaching, education, and accountability, whether I’m working one-on-one in my home gym or helping clients through my online programs.
The journey hasn’t always been easy, but my commitment to helping others transform their lives keeps me going. I’m passionate about mentoring, not just in fitness but in leadership as well, and I take pride in helping others reach their potential.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue growing Chris Freeman Fitness and expanding The StrongHer Journey to reach more women who are ready to take control of their health and confidence.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest obstacles I faced was the fear of failure. In many ways, I was experiencing the same doubts that my clients feel before they take the first step toward changing their lives. That self-doubt, wondering if I was good enough, if people would trust me, if I could genuinely make an impact was something I had to confront head-on.
The biggest struggle was realizing that I had already put in the work to be where I was. I had the knowledge, the experience, and the passion to help others, but I had to believe in my own value. I’ve always coached my clients to push past their doubts and take action, but I had to take my own advice. Growth doesn’t happen in comfort; success requires stepping into the unknown.
That experience has shaped me as a coach and business owner. It’s made me more empathetic toward my clients because I know exactly what it feels like to hesitate before making a big change. But I also know the power of taking that step, and now I help others do the same—whether in fitness, confidence, or life.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in helping women who are new to working out build confidence, lose weight, and create sustainable fitness habits. Through my online coaching program, The StrongHer Journey, and in-person personal training, I guide beginners step by step, ensuring they feel supported and empowered.
I’m known for making fitness approachable and sustainable. Many of my clients have tried workouts or diets in the past but struggled to stay consistent. My approach focuses on education, accountability, and mindset shifts, not just exercise. I break things down in a way that makes fitness less intimidating and more achievable for real-life schedules.
What I’m most proud of is the transformation I see in my clients—not just physically but mentally. Seeing someone go from doubting themselves to lifting weights with confidence or hitting goals they never thought possible is what drives me. It’s not just about losing weight; it’s about becoming stronger inside and out.
What sets me apart is my unique blend of structure and empathy. As both a personal trainer and a law enforcement physical fitness instructor, I understand discipline and structure. But I also know how important it is to meet people where they are and guide them at their own pace. My approach isn’t about extreme workouts or quick fixes but real, lasting change.
Ultimately, my mission is to help women build strength, both physically and mentally, so they can feel confident in every aspect of life.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a mentor and building a strong network are essential for growth, whether in business, fitness, or life. The best advice I can give is to be intentional and proactive—mentorship and networking don’t just happen; you have to seek them out.
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is that mentorship doesn’t have to be formal. Some of my biggest influences have been people I’ve learned from simply by observing, asking the right questions, and staying open to advice. Whether it’s a seasoned trainer, a business owner, or a respected leader, I’ve made it a habit to listen, apply what I learn, and then follow up.
When it comes to networking, the key is to provide value before expecting anything in return. I’ve built great connections by engaging with like-minded professionals, supporting their work, and being genuinely interested in their journey. Whether it’s through social media, local events, or professional groups, showing up consistently and being authentic has opened doors for me.
One thing that has worked well is surrounding myself with people who challenge me to grow. It’s easy to stay in your comfort zone, but real progress comes when you connect with those who push you, inspire you, and hold you accountable. I’ve found that the right mentors and connections naturally come when you lead with passion, stay teachable, and take action on what you learn.
