Today we’d like to introduce you to Chrisy Chris. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Meet Chrisy Chris, Full Figured Mogul, and Social Media Sensation.
Chrisy was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee to a teen mom and a young father, who was also born and raised in Memphis.
After high school, because of family illnesses and family addiction Chrisy decided to stay in the city of Memphis to attend college and support her family. Chrisy is a graduate of Southwest TN Community College, as well as the University of Memphis.
In 2014, Chrisy Relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where she currently resides. Shortly before Chrisy relocated to Atlanta she began to change her negative self-image as a plus-size person and FullFigured woman after working in an abused women’s shelter and crisis center and noticing a need for more self-love and size acceptance amongst the heavier and plus size women in the shelter, in addition to her own personal struggles.
Through her newly developed social media platforms, Chrisy began discussing women’s issues and posting more pictures of herself celebrating her body and total being. Chrisy quickly became a social media sensation and caught the eye of other Plus Size people, supporters, and many brands.
Chrisy has since worked with over 100 brands and looks forward to working with many more. Chrisy has also been featured and published in several media outlets, TV shows, and music videos, and was cast by Bravo TV for the 2019 Reboot of Blind Date.
Chrisy enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, and learning new skills. Chrisy is very passionate about breaking the cycle of drug and alcohol addictions and ending bullying, as she is a survivor of both and has worked professionally in both fields to make a change.
In 2020, Chrisy trained for a new skill In Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP). She currently works in Memphis and Atlanta by appointment. In 2021, Chrisy launched a raw but real podcast titled The Big Spill Podcast where she and another plus-size model and friend discuss all things plus size and have gained attention from other full-figured moguls and celebrities, including Kelly Price.
Chrisy never aspired to be a model, she aspired to love herself more… which gained the attention of several brands, music artists, and TV networks. Chrisy is grateful for all things but never saw herself making a career from modeling which also opened doors for many other opportunities… so many opportunities that Chrisy was unable to continue working a regular job.
But Chrisy is still very passionate about the mental health and substance abuse field (Because of how rampant it ran through her family) and wants to continue it on an entrepreneurial level (in her hometown Memphis) that she’s currently working towards.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of Chrisy’s struggles were:
Being completely comfortable with her body. Trying to work regular jobs and model. People do not give her opportunities because of her exotic shape and plus-size body. Other women do not support her due to Jealousy related to her curvy body.
Constantly critiquing her own imperfections. Men sexualize her rather than getting to know her while dating. Men who she may be interested in that are intimidated by her social media presence or curvy body (in real life).
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Chrisy is a lifestyle content creator. Although she has an extensive history of brand influencing she also likes to travel and enjoy her life as a full-figure woman.
Chrisy is most proud of her confidence and becoming comfortable with who she is as a woman both physically and mentally. Chrisy’s body is unique And she has the ability to capture people’s attention when they first see her but her personality outshines everything because of her humility and comedic ways.
Chrisy is also a Scalp Micropigmentation Artist known as SMP Boss (@SMPBoss on Instagram) She enjoys restoring the confidence of men and women who have lost their hair due to various reasons. The procedure is not a hair replacement but gives the illusion of hair that has been shaved down And covers balding areas.
In the future, Chrisy wants to offer this service for FREE To those impacted by cancer And other serious illnesses that prevent hair from growing back. She is currently working towards partnering with some agencies in Atlanta and Memphis.
Chrisy is also a co-creator of the previously mentioned “The Big Spill Podcast.”
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Chrisy’s most important lesson learned was to not let others’ negative opinions affect her, as she would limit herself in the past because of it, and think she wasn’t deserving of opportunities due to size and skill.
(Chrisy never wanted to be a model, her popularity on social media while taking selfies led to modeling and other opportunities, with no training). Chrisy wholeheartedly believes in individuality And wishes others would do the same and accept that all people are not the same.
Working in the social service field for over 15 years and also doing so while modeling has kept Chrisy humble and appreciative of those who love themselves and life.
