Check Out Courtney Cox’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Cox

Hi Courtney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always enjoyed media! Growing up, I considered myself to be the next Khadijah James of Living Single and living in New York and working for a publication. However, life isn’t an NBC sitcom and after getting my degree in journalism in the middle of covid, the traditional path just wasn’t it. After working in the communications and start-up industry, I decided to pick up a camera and be a tourist in my city. Living that “big city life” is possible in Memphis, you must be a pioneer and venture out into the unknown. I have a small following but I just love using my camera and capturing what’s going on. Being a digital storyteller is my way of self-expression!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are challenges no matter what you pursue, and even social media and content creation has its challenges. Feeling burnt out from working full time and executing the ideas you have can be hard, imagine balancing a side hustle as well (truly wild for this haha). But creating freely is fun, and removing perfectionism is key to free-flowing creation.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create content about nails, beauty, and a southern real girl lifestyle and just having fun with creativity.

One thing I’m most proud of is how I’ve built a space where people can feel inspired to try new things, whether they are experienced nail artists or just people scrolling on their phone 🙂

What sets me apart? I’d say my mix of experimentation, storytelling, and approachability. I’m always down to go to a festival, try a new spot, visit a happy hour, and explore!

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If you’re just starting out, whether it’s with nails, content creation, or anything creative—just start, seriously. Don’t wait until everything is ‘perfect’ because, trust me, you’ll always be learning, evolving, and trying something new.

Something I wish I knew earlier? You don’t have to have the most expensive tools to create something amazing? A new camera is cool but skill, authenticity, creativity matter more. Use what you have, and upgrade as you grow. Don’t take it so seriously it’s all pixels lol.
