Check Out Daria Greene’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daria Greene.

Hi, Daria so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Daria Monette Greene and I am the owner of One Fab Co; which houses One Fab Affair & One Fab Home. One Fab Affair is my event planning company that specializes in weddings. One Fab Home is an interior design and renovation company.

For as long as I can remember, I have always been passionate about entertaining, decor, and event planning. I’ve simply just ALWAYS wanted things to “look nice”. My Granna (grandmother- Mildred Woodson) has always had the most impeccable taste. Her home has always been beautifully decorated and her preparation for guests is wonderful. I became obsessed with place settings and home accents because those were must-haves for her.

Her preparation for making her home “guest ready” inspired me greatly. My aunt Jessie Woodson has also been a great inspiration. She organizes great church functions and her home has ALWAYS been exquisitely decorated. Her attention to detail, immaculate decorating skills, and tenacity for entertaining inspired me as well. She has always had a timeless eye and tests the barriers of elegant and traditional decor and design. She’s mastered it and that inspired me as well.

It started with me just assisting friends and/or family members with their home décor and intimate events. Whether it was baking their personalized cupcakes, making wreaths, completing table arrangements, recommending adjustments to their homes, or enlisting ideas for entertainment; I did it! Attendees of those events then started enlisting me to help with their homes and events as well and that puts me where I am today.

I can truly say that my business began strictly from referrals. I am new to this but I believe that you deserve an amazing event no matter how big or small your budget is. I also believe that when people love their homes they are happier and live better lives.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a smooth road in regards to attaining clientele. BUT navigating has NOT been a smooth road at all. Event Planning & Interior design can be difficult, even if you have passion, love, and dedication for it.

To consistently adapt your approach to work to suit the needs/wants of your clients and their chosen spaces definitely have their challenges. People think you spend most of your time “doing”. Well no. Execution only takes about 10%. You actually spend 90% of your time-space planning, creating visual plans, doing product research, balancing functionality and safety, setting timelines, supervising construction, updating clients, dealing with the indecisiveness of clients, and completing continuous education.

This work is far deeper and demanding than people believe it to be. BUT the smile on my client’s faces when I reveal spaces created specifically with them in mind makes it all worth it and so rewarding.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Because I have a passion for making spaces aesthetically pleasing, my work actually comes naturally to me. I’m a visionary. When I walk into any space, my mind begins working on the best enhancements for that space to execute the requests of my clients.

I specialize in coordination. It’s my greatest asset, and why I have been so successful. I’m most proud of my versatility. What sets me apart is my boldness, knowledge, confidence, and faith in my work.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
As an event planner and interior designer, you take risks daily. But that goes for any creator that uses their creativity to make a living. When I’m producing designs, they’re not always traditional.

I do like to challenge my clients to step outside of the box to set their events and homes apart to create lasting effects on their guests as well as themselves.
