Hi Galey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi! My name is Galey Grimes; I’m the principal designer and owner of Galey Grimes Interiors. GGI is a full-service, luxury design firm specializing in custom home builds, renovations, and furnishings projects.
My journey into interior design began in the heart of Midtown Memphis. As a child, I’d accompany my parents on our annual neighborhood home tours—an experience that opened my eyes to the beauty and personality of every home. Volunteering alongside my father, who was actively involved in our community, I discovered early on that every space tells its own unique story.
Fast forward to August 2023, when, encouraged by a dear mentor, I made the bold leap into entrepreneurship by founding Galey Grimes Interiors. With a deep passion for design and a commitment to creating luxurious, functional living spaces, I embraced the challenge of building a brand from the ground up. One of my first breakthrough opportunities was collaborating with Chris Dickens of DickensBuilt for the 2024 Vesta Home Show—a project that perfectly captured our vision of blending timeless elegance with modern sophistication.
Today, every project is a reflection of my personal journey—a blend of early inspirations, resilience in the face of challenges, and a relentless pursuit of creating homes that are both inviting and beautifully refined.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has been incredibly rewarding, but it certainly hasn’t been without its bumps along the way. Balancing the demands of launching a new business while fulfilling my roles as a wife and mother of two has been one of the more challenging aspects. Establishing Galey Grimes Interiors from scratch meant not only defining our unique brand identity but also finding the right audience for our luxurious, personalized design services. Each obstacle—be it moments of self-doubt or the complexities of building credibility in a competitive industry—has ultimately enriched our approach and strengthened our commitment to excellence. Every challenge has been a stepping stone, guiding us to refine our vision and elevate our passion for creating spaces that truly feel like home.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The Covid-19 crisis reshaped my perspective on the spaces we call home. I learned that a home isn’t just where we live—it’s where we work, recharge, and nurture our well-being. The pandemic underscored the importance of flexibility in design: creating multifunctional spaces that effortlessly transition from a productive work environment to a haven of relaxation. It also reminded me that every home should be a sanctuary, one that supports not just aesthetic beauty but also the emotional and physical health of its inhabitants. This experience has deepened my commitment to designing interiors that are both resilient and deeply personal, ensuring that every room becomes a refuge in times of uncertainty.
