Check Out Jasmine Dunn’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Dunn.

Hi Jasmine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started taking my lash business seriously during my senior year of high school. I decided that I did not want to work while going to nursing school so I knew I would need to work hard to maintain a consistent clientele. Once I graduate from high school, I started going to college at Baptist University, and during my freshman semester, I also begin esthetician school at DCI Academy.

It took discipline, prayer, and sacrifice to attend both at the same time. I am currently a senior at Baptist University and a licensed esthetician! Over the years, I have grown as an entrepreneur, lash tech, nursing student, and lash product supplier.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth. I was tired and sleepy attending both schools at the same time. I was only lashing on weekends, and I was taking 10/11 clients a day to pay tuition for esthetician school.

Additionally, the growing clientele wasn’t as hard back then because there were only a few younger lash techs so a lot of the people my age knew that I lashed. I never worried about others supporting me because I knew I was putting in the work on my end.

I was practicing my craft, I sent out my information to people directly on social media, and I maintained a good reputation.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in mink extensions and body waxing, and I sell lash products for other lash techs to purchase. I am most proud of being able to invest my time to teach others the skill set and about business.

What sets me apart from others is that I genuinely enjoy what I do. A lot of people start lashing because of financial reward; however, when there’s passion behind your work it shows through your work and how you run your business.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is different for everybody, but for me, I believe success is setting a goal and reaching that goal.
