Check Out Jason Williams Jr’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Williams Jr.

Jason, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a 21-year-old photographer, videographer, and set designer from Memphis, Tennessee. When I was a little boy I always enjoyed the art & vision a camera or camcorder could capture. My grandad worked at local Memphis news stations and recorded for local churches too. One day he thought it would be a cool idea to bring me to the news station and show me what he does and how the station operates. Little did he know that one “cool idea” would change my life forever.

In high school, I studied broadcast journalism and I fell in love with the topic and wanted to keep pushing forward. I joined a broadcasting newsgroup program in high school and did it throughout my four years & after I graduated from high school in 2018 I left Memphis, Tennessee to get my diploma in cinematography production. I graduated from a trade school in 2019 after I finished school I took a break from journalism to make sure I didn’t overfill myself and fall out of love with the thing I fell in love with. I take this very seriously I love my job and making people’s days and creating unforgiving moments,

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course not, especially when the field you work in has a lot of competition everyone wants to be seen, everyone wants to be in the center of attention, and everyone wants to put their name out there especially if they have a talent they want the world to see.

One of my biggest struggles growing up was being social and asking questions I used to have very bad anxiety especially when it came to talking to new people, I also am a little dyslexic and I tend to shudder sometimes when I speak so I just kept my mouth shut a lot.

Once I got a little bit older I’ve gotten better at speaking to new people and making sure my first impressions are always good ones. That doesn’t mean I fixed the issue because I haven’t I just realized in the field that I work in networking, socializing, and word of mouth goes a long way and I wouldn’t trade what I do for anything in the world.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work. What are you most proud of?
I’m a photographer from Memphis TN, but I recently moved my brand over to Nashville TN. My website is “JayVisionPhotography.com” I upload my work there and update my portfolio weekly.

If I had to give you an honest answer for what I’m known for I honestly wouldn’t say my work, I would say my personality and energy I have to do what I love. Sometimes you can tell if a person really loves what they do or if they are just doing it to put food on their table. That’s not me every customer I have ever worked with enjoyed the experience with me and I feel like that sets me apart from others.

The “what are you most proud of’ question is honestly my favorite one to answer. I’m honestly would say that I’m the proudest of is all the people I have helped in my life, rather than it being some likes, some attention, or making them smile things like that make me love what I do and love the people I met in my journey.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I love and appreciate everyone who has come into my life rather you impacted me in a good way or a bad way at the end of the day I learned something from you coming into my life. Rather you shared my work, bought a shirt, or even told me personally that you like and respect what I’m doing I don’t take any of that for granted and I’m forever grateful for the position I am in today.

Also, I know this is random but a huge shoutout to my mom for being in my corner and supporting me through everything, I love you so so much, thank you for being my best friend, my role model, and mom all wrapped in one.
