Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Hobson.

Jessica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Baking has been my passion since I was a little girl, inspired by countless hours spent in the kitchen keeping myself distracted from the world around me. Baking became my happy place. It was always a childhood dream to have my own bakery, and the thought never truly left me. Over the years, that dream evolved from a simple passion into a deeper purpose. I wanted to create a business that was not only a reflection of my love for baking but also a legacy for my children—a testament to the fact that you can build something you believe in and be proud of. Taking the step to turn my home kitchen into a professional bakery was the culmination of that dream, and I’m so grateful for where it’s led me today. It brings me so much joy to translate a person’s imagination into a sweet treat.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A smooth road? I wish I could say yes, but the truth is, it’s been a journey of peaks and valleys. In the early days, there were times when business was slow, and I questioned everything. I’d have a week with very few orders and a mountain of self-doubt. It was in those moments that I had to remind myself of the dream and the purpose behind it all. I never gave up, because I knew this was what I was meant to do.

Then came the pandemic. The world shut down, and suddenly, baking wasn’t just my passion—it was my only option to provide for my family. The uncertainty was terrifying, but it forced me to buckle down and focus like never before. I leaned into the work, fine-tuned my recipes, and found a way to connect with customers even when we couldn’t be face-to-face. That period was the biggest challenge, but it also made the bakery what it is today. It proved that even when things are tough, perseverance and a lot of heart can see you through.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At P & D TastyTreats, we do a little bit of everything in the sweet world, but we’ve built our reputation on custom cakes and cupcakes. We’re known for our unique flavors and our ability to take a client’s idea and turn it into a reality that tastes even better than it looks.

I’m most proud of the foundation this business is built on. The name, P & D TastyTreats, is named after my children, and it’s a constant reminder of why I started this journey. It’s a daily motivator and a symbol of the hard work I’m putting in to build a legacy they can be proud of.

What sets us apart is simple: passion and purpose. This isn’t just a job; it’s a dream I’m building brick by brick. We don’t cut corners on ingredients, and we don’t settle for ‘good enough.’ Everything is made from scratch, with a meticulous attention to detail. Our customers feel that dedication in every bite, and that’s the difference.

What’s next?
Looking ahead, my main goal is to continue to grow P & D TastyTreats in a sustainable way. The most significant plan on the horizon is to transition from my home kitchen into a dedicated commercial space or a small storefront. This would allow me to increase production, take on bigger orders, and create a physical presence for our brand.

I’m excited to have a space where I can welcome the community and share my passion on a larger scale. It’s the next logical step and a goal I’m working hard to achieve.
