Check Out Lindsey Carr’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Carr

Hi Lindsey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I wear many hats. I’m a chiropractor, certified in functional medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), a Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Internists (DABCI), and pre/postnatal chiropractic care certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). I’m married to another chiropractor, and together we have two amazing boys—drug-free since birth! We live near Memphis, Tennessee, with our dog (Divot) and a little flock of chickens, but my roots trace back to the Chicagoland area.

Growing up, I never envisioned becoming a chiropractor. My original plan was to attend traditional medical school. That trajectory changed dramatically after a personal health crisis. I experienced a migraine headache that lasted for an entire month. Nothing—medications, tests, even an MRI—offered relief. Frustrated and hopeless, my dad suggested I see a chiropractor. My initial reaction? “No thanks.”

But when nothing else worked, I reluctantly gave it a try. To my astonishment, after just one adjustment, my migraine was gone within three hours. That experience opened my eyes to the incredible potential of healing the body from the inside out rather than relying solely on external interventions. It sparked a passion in me to learn more, and soon I found myself enrolling in chiropractic school. There, I embraced the philosophy that true health comes from within and discovered the power of holistic care.

Years later, another pivotal moment steered my journey toward functional medicine. I was pregnant with my second child when my dad passed away suddenly, without any clear medical explanation. His loss drove me to dig deeper into understanding the root causes of health issues—not just treating symptoms but uncovering and addressing what’s happening beneath the surface.

Functional medicine became the answer I was looking for. It aligns with everything I believe about empowering patients to take charge of their health. Here’s why I love it so much:

Empowering Patients: Functional medicine gives the power back to the patient. For so long, we’ve been conditioned to believe that medications are the ultimate solution, but functional medicine shifts the focus toward understanding and correcting the body’s underlying imbalances.

Looking at the Whole Person: It’s not about chasing symptoms. Functional medicine considers the entire person—their history, lifestyle, and environment—to paint a comprehensive picture of health.

Integrating Lifestyle Changes: Instead of defaulting to pills, functional medicine emphasizes sustainable lifestyle changes to optimize how the body functions. Sleep, nutrition, exercise, stress management—all play critical roles in creating lasting health.

Today, I’m honored to help my patients uncover the deeper truths about their health. I’m grateful for the twists and turns of my own journey that brought me to where I am. Every experience—from a stubborn migraine to the sudden loss of my dad—has shaped my mission to guide others toward a life of vitality and well-being.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing is ever linear. Each patient teaches me something new, and my hunger to learn more has driven me to continually grow and evolve. Every challenge I’ve faced has been an opportunity for growth, whether it was navigating complex patient cases, expanding my knowledge through advanced training, or balancing the demands of my personal and professional life.

The road has been filled with moments of self-doubt, breakthroughs, and lessons learned through trial and error. I’ve come to realize that progress doesn’t happen in a straight line. It’s a series of twists, turns, and sometimes even setbacks that ultimately shape who I am and how I practice.

Through it all, what keeps me going is the privilege of helping others. Seeing my patients reclaim their health and discover their potential fuels my passion. It reminds me why I embarked on this journey in the first place. Every step of this non-linear road has been worth it, because it’s brought me closer to understanding not only my patients but also myself.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a chiropractor with advanced certifications in functional medicine, prenatal and pediatric chiropractic care, and internal diagnostics. I specialize in helping individuals achieve optimal health by addressing the root causes of their concerns, integrating lifestyle changes, and empowering them to take charge of their well-being. My functional medicine approach allows me to look beyond symptoms and understand the full picture of my patients’ health, which sets me apart in my field.

What I am most proud of, however, is my family. Being a mother to two wonderful boys and a wife to a fellow chiropractor is the greatest accomplishment of my life. Raising my kids drug-free and fostering a health-conscious lifestyle in our family is a reflection of the values I bring to my practice.

What sets me apart is not just my clinical expertise but the deep connection I build with my patients. I approach each case with curiosity and compassion, always striving to learn and grow alongside my patients. My journey—from overcoming personal health challenges to mastering multiple disciplines—has shaped my commitment to helping others.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Memphis is the sense of community and the city’s rich culture. From the vibrant music scene to the local food and historical landmarks, Memphis has a unique charm that’s hard to find anywhere else. I enjoy the warmth of the people and the opportunities to connect with others who share similar values around health and wellness. Memphis is still an affordable place to live, which was one of the reasons we chose to settle here.

What I like least about Memphis is the unpredictable weather and some of the challenges that come with city living, such as traffic, crime and infrastructure issues.
