Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began my journey in the beauty industry as a young teen practicing techniques on my sister, Salem, and friends and family who were willing to let me explore my ideas! When the time came, I enrolled in the Cosmetology program at Collierville High School and fell in love with everything about this career. I loved the creativity, detailed knowledge, skills, and personal relationships that is all inclusive within the beauty industry. I discovered that I was actually pretty good at this! Maybe I could make this my actual career and one day open a salon myself!
Fast forward a few years and I began working in the salon I went to at the time and dove right in. I had the privilege to learn from a few very talented artists and salon owners about what it takes to create, maintain, and run a successful business. There are lots of ins and outs, wins and losses, ups and downs of this business, but I remained focused on becoming a salon owner one day.
With my husbands support, in 2016 we finally found what would be Halo Salon today on the historic town square in Rossville, Tennessee! I had eleven years of experience by this point and an unbelievably supportive clientele. Throughout the process of the salon build out, to finding stylists to join in, and all the blood, sweat, and tears that goes into creating this salon I knew this was all in God’s timing and this was it! There were so many incredible things that God put into place at the exact moment for us when we needed it or introduced the right person to help us when we needed something very specific. He had a plan for this salon!
Today, we have an incredible team of some of the most talented artists in the Memphis area. I am proud of every aspect of Halo Salon. We pride ourselves in providing a warm, welcoming, professional experience to our guests using top of the line Italian haircolor, clean products, and modern styling tools.
This year, Halo Salon celebrates 8 years of beauty! It’s incredible what happens when you have God on your side, a dream, educate yourself, and work hard for yourself and others around you. I absolutely love getting to continually learn more for our guests and keep the bar raised high!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s not ever easy running a small business. I would say the hardest part is learning to change and grow with the ebs and flows of the beauty industry. Everyone knows social media and your presence on there can make or break your business. Not only are we hair artists, we have had to become photographers, videographers, social media experts, marketing gurus, and dare I say influencers. That aspect has changed so much since I started my career.

At Halo Salon, we specialize in soft, effortless, beautiful color and multiple hair extension methods to suit you as an individual. Our artists will spend the time to consult with our guests and ensure that we deliver exactly what they need to fit their lifestyles and maintenance needs. Haircolor has always been our strong suit amongst our clientele. We are obsessed with creating the most luxurious color blends and make our guests inspirations come to life! Our most popular color service is our Lived In Blonde and Brunette. This is a customized color service. This may mean custom dimension or contouring the hair with light and dark tones to make it pop in the right way!
We pride ourselves with housing the most certifications from the leading extension method brands in our industry in the Memphis area. These methods promote not only the most seamless integration but values scalp and hair health as well as comfort at the highest level. Our guest’s favorites include our Invisible Bead Extensions (a registered company) which is a beaded row, sewn weft method and our Keratin Tip Extension method which is a micro bonded method.
Our team of artists values the importance of continuing education. We are constantly seeking out leading professionals and brands who educate around the glode and attending anything and everything to perfect our craft. We have hosted many acclaimed artists at our Rossville location as well! These events are always open for anyone to join us not only our own artists to enjoy. We believe in community over competition.
