Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie Pierce
Hi Melanie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
This is a story I love to tell. LaShon Robinson found me in 2019.
I worked with her, and after watching a video of me singing and grooving on my djembe, she encouraged me to try out for a band.
That year, we finally formed our own cover band. However, the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 put a stop to our live performances, but it also gave us time to start over and perfect our sound.
My life has undergone significant adjustment, but I am incredibly proud of the progress we have made in such a short period of time.
In just five years, I went from not singing in a band to being a backup vocalist, forming our own band, recording original music, and now impersonating Tina Turner.
I had never performed in a band before, and it marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing is ever easy, but when LaShon Robinson and Derrin Lee are at my side, we always support one another throughout difficult times.
The most difficult thing is funding for our ideas and band needs but we have made it through and still elevating.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Being a Tina impersonator has made me well-known, and the band and I have had a very interesting new experiences with this act. Totally different than what we are use to but we are loving it.
In general, my reputation stems from my involvement with the cover band Elevation Memphis, which also include original songs.
Our arrangements have earned us a reputation, and we eagerly await the release of our first album.
It’s finally almost here after a long wait.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have so many wonderful memories of my early years.
I could not have hoped for a better mother than my mother, who was a single mother. She worked hard to get me in the best basketball camps.
My mother enrolling me in the University of Tennessee basketball camp is my favorite childhood memory.
I still recall the wonderful experience I had when I got to meet Pat Summit.
