Today we’d like to introduce you to Ranjit Chand.
Hi Ranjit, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Ranjit Chand, and I go by my stage name Dj Raju. My journey started about 19 years ago. I was born and raised in NYC. Music was always a passion and hobby of mine. The prominent people responsible for me becoming who I am today is my family. How So? Growing up, we would have many house parties celebrating all types of events, that required someone to play music. Shortly, this became a hobby and then soon a profession. During this time, there weren’t many deejays in the area, so this had brought a great opportunity for me to share my passion for music to the community. With deejaying, I also began providing production on various levels from small to large events. Ranging from 50 guests to over 1,000 guests, providing entertainment to any number of people is always fun and exciting!
I have had the opportunity to travel and discover new cities. Places such as Memphis, NYC, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Atlanta, and Cancun! In addition, I have met a number of wonderful people throughout my deejay career, creating relationship’s with clients, vendors, and staff. I am thankful to have met and worked with all of them and fellow deejays too. One of those deejays that stands out the most is Dj DPK, aka Deepak Gosain.
In 2015, Deepak and I started collaborating together for the first time. Since then, we have worked together on numerous events. We pushed each other to grow bigger and better from when we first began following our passion.
Apart from the support that my family and friends gave, my success came from word of mouth. I believe if you do a great job, your audience will always find you one way or another. I look forward to more exciting and fun-filled events in the future.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most professions, there are always obstacles and learning experiences you come across. I choose to take all occasions and learn from them as I grow. There are so many variables to consider when even planning out the entertainment of an event. I have overcome each and every hurdle that came my way.
I heard a phrase once that I can relate to so much and that is “Me versus Me.” Today’s version of myself needs to be better than ten years, ten months, ten days, and 10 minutes ago. This industry, like most, is a changing one. You have to learn to adapt and change, or you will be left behind.
Deejaying is fun for me and doesn’t feel like work. The minute it becomes work, I feel like I will have lost my passion for it. That day isn’t even close.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Dj Raju always provides the best experience and go above and beyond for our clients. My team and I offer an assortment of different services. Deejay’s services include up-lighting, indoor cold sparklers, led Co2 guns, led star-lit dance floor, and much more. Our specialty is South Asian/fusion events, but we are not limited to that. We cater to all types of events, including different cultures. The proudest thing about my brand is how far and wide my reputation has gotten me. Clients and vendors would not pass on your information if you didn’t do a great job. Every event is unique in its entirety.
