Check Out Wander In Ink Tattoo & Piercings’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wander In Ink Tattoo & Piercings.

Hi Wander In Ink, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The artists of the shop were all introduced to art at a young age and knew that this field was destined for them. Tori started at 14 years old, with her first experience being a piercer. Natasha also started as a piercing apprentice and wanted nothing more than to grow. They both crossed paths and shared an unfortunate faith of being scammed at a local Memphis shop which has prompted them to help other local artists with their own journeys. With the help of the shop owner of Wander In Ink, Stone, they have become more than confident in their art, skill and overall outlook on the tattoo community. Kat, a current apprentice at Wander In Ink, met Stone in her timeline of being an artist and was brought in to learn the craft as well. The women of the shop are now proud to be apart of the Wander In Ink family!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
From being scammed from a local tattoo shop in Memphis, Natasha and Tori’s own personal journeys weren’t easy. The mentor they shared wasn’t challenging or pushing them to become better artists. They craved a challenge but unfortunately they felt like they weren’t learning anything at all. From being stolen from financially, operating in hostile environments to even being sexualized and undermined as women, they didn’t feel valued and wanted a more positive experience. If it wasn’t for the senior artist that was at the same shop, they felt like they wouldn’t have gained anything from the time being there. Other than that, The woman of the shop – including Kat – juggled multiple jobs, searching in multiple places for their perfect shop environment but their hearts wanted nothing more than to work in their art fields. Stone has been nothing but a good mentor, role model and leader that sets a perfect example of how the world of positive tattoo shops should be.

The common answer to the good luck of the shop is Stone. Not only are him and his wife, Nash, the co-owner of Wander In Ink, are amazing individuals but they are incredibly strong and resilient artists. The trust and the confidence that they pour into the artists at the shop creates their ideal work environment.
