Check Out Zachary Cosey’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zachary Cosey

Hi Zachary, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I’ll begin by sharing my experience working at a small business. At September Nail Salon, formerly owned by Jennifer Purnell, I gained invaluable insights into professionalism and management. I never imagined I’d be working at a luxury nail spa, but the opportunity presented itself at the perfect time. Subsequently, I embarked on a new journey by training as a nail technician, a venture I never anticipated but found to be a natural fit. However, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, which felt like a year when everyone had to adapt and pivot.

After working with this business for three years, I transitioned into multi-family living property management. This new role pushed me further out of my comfort zone, requiring me to not only excel in customer service but also learn how to sell a product. I began my career in this field as a leasing associate, gaining valuable insights into the importance of building connections and developing innovative marketing strategies.

Amidst all these responsibilities, I was also pursuing my degree, which kept my mind occupied and challenged me intellectually. The property I currently help manage, The Citizen, underwent a management change, which heightened my awareness of the need for employment. However, I was fortunate enough to stay at my property and transition with the new management team, RAM Partners, in February 2024.

Under the guidance and mentorship of exceptional leaders at RAM, we successfully increased the occupancy of our properties to 90%. I graduated in May 2024, and in June of the same year, I was promoted to Assistant Manager. In recognition of my contributions, I was awarded Assistant Manager of the Year at the Apartment Association of Greater Memphis’s Diamond Achievement Awards, along with my colleague, for our outstanding management team.

My current goal is to continue growing and preparing for future opportunities. Throughout my career, my passion has been to help people, and I strive to do so with excellence and ease. I am grateful for my family, friends, and partner who have supported me and encouraged me even when I doubted my abilities.

One fun venture I’m assisting my exceptional art collector friend with her social media and marketing with her project called Memphis Art in Memphis Homes. This curated immersive experience showcases a local family’s passion for art and their desire to promote and celebrate local artists. We recently held our first event on March 8th. .

As always, I am driven by a desire for continuous growth and development. I am currently focused on advancing my current role and pursuing my next degree.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been an easy journey! With the challenges of Covid-19 and subsequent divorce, there were numerous obstacles that could have derailed me or led me to abandon my goals. However, these obstacles only served to strengthen my resolve and determination.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I currently hold the position of Assistant Manager at The Citizen Memphis, a midtown establishment.

Throughout my career, I have consistently strived to bring joy to our residents and assist clients in finding the ideal living arrangement.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Always be willing to learn! Also take notes!
