Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Ann Ward
Hi Cindy Ann, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always known that everything we need to care for our bodies and heal ourselves are gifts provided by nature. Our ancestors have used what the earth provides for centuries and we owe it to ourselves and future generations to continue these traditions.
I’ve found myself frustrated over the many synthetic preservatives and poisons which are commonplace in our everyday products. I cannot fix this dire situation on a large scale, however, I do have the heart, knowledge, and skill to create a vast array of products from natural ingredients for our community.
After spending most of my worklife in a corporate setting, I felt as if my purpose was not in alignment with my passion. In my late 40’s, I went back to college to finish my bachelor’s degree in natural science with emphasis on herbalism. I’m thrilled that HEDGE is beginning its 3rd year and people are loving HEDGE products!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The community has really supported the efforts of HEDGE. I would have to say that the biggest obstacle is in education. Most people don’t know what damaging ingredients are in the products we’ve been using since birth. Many people see herbalism as an “alternative” medicine or self-care products. When in fact, what we are used to seeing in our stores is the alternative. Herbs, spices, and botanicals are the OG medicine and treatments. As humans, we’ve been so mislead as to what is helpful and what is harmful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
HEDGE Remedies and Delights offers re-imagined products for healing and self-care using herbs and botanicals, natural products, and wisdom from yesteryear. We seek to provide useful and luxurious products for your pantry, body, and dwelling.
Every ingredient is sourced by me and is the finest, organic, and cleanest ingredients. I personally create each product in micro-batches to ensure quality. And I don’t simply hand make the products, I put a lot of good energy and speak blessings into every bottle and every jar.
I am most proud of my 15 different hand-blended teas which focus on everything from easing common ailments to supporting hormone levels, boosting energy and getting a good night’s sleep. My customers love our herbal tinctures, elderberry syrup, and most recently, our luxury line of tallow creams. Our luxury coconut oil candles and decadent perfume oils are also crowd favorites!
I’d like your readers to know that HEDGE products are all hand crafted with care. And that herbs are medicine. I am not a doctor, I’m an herbalist. (I have to say that) HEDGE products are to be treated the same as otc meds – seek advice from your physician if you have questions!
What does success mean to you?
I believe we are put on this earth to be of service to each other. If I can help other people find joy, find relief, feel better, then I have found success.
