Today we’d like to introduce you to Dante Taylor.
Dante, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started baking and creating treats at the start of covid in 2020. At that time, treat tables were becoming a thing, and I wanted to take part in it. Originally, I was only interested in making treats for my kids birthdays and not having to hire someone. After attending a one on one class, the money was coming in, I was hooked!
Treat making was more than extra money, it became another job. It was my motivation to go into entrepreneurship. As I get older, my family continues to grow, and the world is not what I once knew, I realized this is what I want. This is the lifestyle I’ve been longing for. I am a wife, mother, and full-time paraprofessional. As you can see my life is pretty full with different titles and responsibilities, but I’m making time to do what I love.. What I offer is a luxury. I provide a calming atmosphere to communicate your needs, an effective turn around time, and a genuine loving customer service that makes you want more.
As my business continues to grow, it is challenging me to step outside of my comfort zone. I participate in pop up shops, stay up to date on new trends, and continue perfecting my skills. While most of you are sleeping, I’m up in the wee hours of the night responding to customers, scheduling social media posts, or watching YouTube videos.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road! There were times where I didn’t make any profit. I was so concerned about what other people would say or think. I was scared I wouldn’t have any customers or keep the ones I already had. It took some research and pen and paper to refocus and start over. If I’m going to be successful, I have to put my business first. All customers are not my clients. All money is not good money! This is a business, nothing personal.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Janae Sweet Treatz derives from my middle name “Janae” This was not the original name. I went through several names until my husband thought “Janae Sweet Treatz” was perfect and it flowed smoothly. We offer bake goods and sweet treats such as traditional cakes like caramel and coconut cake, candy fruit, chocolate covered fruit, etc. I will say we are known to be versatile. We’re always up for a challenge and try to accommodate all budget types. The one thing I’m most proud of is not giving up. Even through the slow seasons, we keep pushing and striving for greater.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is what you make it. Success is thinking back on what you accomplished and achieved in the time frame you set for yourself. Success is putting yourself first, and remembering what’s important. You will fall, but you have to get up, dust yourself off, and keep going! Success is a lifetime journey, what you do with it is your responsibility.
