Community Highlights: Meet Elijah Wilkerson of Havenroll

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elijah Wilkerson.

Hi Elijah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
For the past ten years, I’ve always had a camera in my hand. What began as a hobby turned into a passion, and now a profession.

In the early days of my career, I focused on video and photo marketing for my clients, especially nonprofits and mission-minded organizations. Nowadays, my work has grown beyond the camera and into the space of enrollment marketing for private schools.

I’m helping private schools find, attract, and keep the families they were built to serve. My company, Havenroll, exists for the schools doing incredible work but struggling to get in front of the right people. We call them hidden gems, and Memphis has a lot of them!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s always a challenge building a company. You don’t know what you don’t know.

But there’s something genuinely rewarding about hitting a wall you’ve never seen before and figuring your way through it. That’s one of the most rewarding things about this work. It keeps you going.

Sometimes, it feels like I’m building the plane while I’m flying it. But that’s part of the adventure! Which is why building a dedicated team and foolproof systems is so essential.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Most schools we work with are exceptional. Great teachers with a strong community and a deeply meaningful mission. They just don’t have the time, tools, or team to market themselves well. That’s the gap we fill!

Havenroll is an enrollment marketing agency for private schools. We build the systems that take a school from invisible to fully enrolled. What sets us apart is the focus. We work with schools, and we speak their language.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I deeply value clarity. Knowing exactly who I serve, what problem I solve, and how I solve it makes everything else easier.

A lot of businesses try to be everything to everyone, but I’d rather be the obvious choice for one person or one organization.
