Hi Jessie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We started The Junk Llamas a little over three years ago with just four hands, a 4Runner, and a trailer, fueled by hard work and determination. After about a year and a half, we upgraded to a pickup truck and dump trailer, allowing us to take on more jobs. Another year and a half later, we invested in an Isuzu hooklift truck and expanded into dumpster rentals, starting with 24 cans.
Thanks to our involvement in the Memphis community, especially through the Germantown Chamber of Commerce and the Home Builders Association, we’ve grown significantly. Today, we operate two roll-off trucks, one hooklift truck, a box truck, and over 100 dumpsters.
My fiancé and I are honored to grow our business within the Memphis community, and we’re grateful for the support and opportunities we’ve received along the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Starting with limited resources—a 4Runner and trailer—meant taking on long days and hard labor to build our foundation. Upgrading equipment required significant financial planning and risk, especially as we expanded into dumpster rentals. Balancing rapid growth while maintaining excellent service was a constant challenge. Navigating the competitive Memphis market and building partnerships took persistence and networking. Despite these hurdles, each challenge taught us valuable lessons that have shaped our success today.

What are your plans for the future?
We’re focused on continued growth and innovation. We plan to expand our fleet and increase our inventory of dumpsters to meet rising demand. We’re also exploring new ways to enhance sustainability by improving recycling processes and partnering with more local charities.
A big goal is to expand our service area beyond Memphis while maintaining the exceptional service and community focus that sets us apart. We’re excited to keep building partnerships, fostering relationships, and growing as leaders in eco-friendly waste management.
