Hi Josue, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Sexy Tacos started as a dream shared by my cousin Andrew and me, born from our love for authentic Mexican food and our interest in pursuing entrepreneurship. Earlier this year, we took our first step into owning a food business with Michue’s Paleteria. We started with a mobile cart selling my homemade paletas. We offered our Mexican popsicles to regulars at Overton Park and Shelby Farms, and it didn’t take long for people to fall in love with our desserts and our business. After watching our business slowly grow organically on social media, we knew we were onto something special.
After months of planning for our future food business, Andrew and I decided to take the plunge and invest in a new food trailer. In November 2024, we launched Sexy Tacos, making sure to prioritize our food quality and building our brand identity. I’m in charge of the kitchen, curating the menu, and preparing every dish from scratch, while Andrew handles the operations side of the business. He makes sure everything runs smoothly so I can focus on creating the food that defines us. Our branding and social media is managed by my girlfriend, Maryam, while our homemade desserts are baked by my mom. I’m incredibly honored and proud to say that our business is family-run.
Together, we’ve built Sexy Tacos to reflect our shared commitment to building a community and serving amazing food. Every ingredient is fresh and locally sourced, and every dish on the menu is designed to deliver bold, vibrant flavors that represent the heart of my family’s Mexican cuisine. For us, Sexy Tacos isn’t just a business—it’s a family venture and a labor of love.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s funny to admit it, but our biggest obstacles are each other. We have totally different perspectives on business. We’re both Adin’s, so we’re born to be stubborn and hard-headed.
It hasn’t been easy, but every struggle has made us more determined to succeed. Sexy Tacos is more than a business to us—it’s a symbol of all the sleepless nights and the effort we’ve poured into making something unique.
As you know, we’re big fans of Sexy Tacos. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize in tacos, tamales, and aguas frescas, with our birria tacos being the standout favorite. Our birria is made with high-quality beef short ribs, slow-roasted with ground chiles that give it a deep, rich flavor. Another top seller includes our freshly-made agua frescas, which compliment our savory dishes perfectly.
