Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Michelle
Kimberly, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2016, I quit my job to open my own youth center for at risk adolescents. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the financial resources at the time, so I chose a different path. After contemplating for a few months, I woke up one morning and decided to enroll in hair school. I didn’t have any prior experience of doing hair. I just wanted to open a salon and have other stylist working in there. While being in hairschool, I fell in love with hair. It just felt right. I knew then, I found my purpose and career. So many people doubted me in the beginning because this wasn’t something I had previously been doing. I’ve always been an ambitious person, so I knew I would be dedicated to putting in whatever work needed to become the best. I traveled different cities taking classes with some of the best in the industry so I could learn more and become better.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t. Building a brand, successful and profitable business takes work. A lot of work. It’s especially difficult when you have a family to tend to. You don’t want to be selfish to them but also not to yourself either.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a licensed cosmetologist, salon owner and master educator. I specialize in creating and maintaining healthy hair with the following services, natural & relaxed hair, color-treated hair and hair extensions. I create custom made wig units along with having my own hair collection, Kimberly Michelle Hair Co. and my own hot tool collection, Kimberly Michelle Pro Titanium Irons. I take pride in creating a luxury hair experience for all of my clients. My motto is, every woman deserves luxury so why not start with your hair.
What matters most to you? Why?
I care about the health of my client’s hair and their experience with me. It matters to me, because before I was a stylist I was a client to someone else. I want my clients to feel secure, comfortable and trustworthy when it comes to me providing their hair care.
