Today we’d like to introduce you to LaToya Humphrey.
Hi LaToya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I didn’t start out with a straight path. I created one through faith, discipline, and a calling to serve. My story is built on grit, purpose, and a belief that if you stay true to your “why,” the “how” will fall into place.
I wear many hats. Each one rooted in service. By day, I serve in IT within the federal government, working behind the scenes to support the systems that keep our country moving. That work taught me discipline, structure, and the value of systems that serve the people. Alongside that, I earned my health insurance license in five states, helping individuals and families gain access to the coverage they need, because peace of mind is powerful.
Real estate came later, but it felt like home from the start. I saw how property ownership could transform lives, close wealth gaps, and create generational change. So I built Sold by Toy on a foundation of trust, care, and empowerment. My business isn’t about sales, it’s about service, showing clients how to own more than just property, but their power.
Still, I knew I had more to give.
That’s why I founded my nonprofit, focused on providing education, healthcare access, and affordable housing to underserved communities. I’ve seen firsthand what a lack of opportunity looks like, and I’ve made it my mission to change that. Through workshops, resource partnerships, and advocacy, we help families rise, equipped with tools, support, and hope.
My journey hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been intentional. Every lane I operate in from tech to housing to healthcare is about building equity, access, and lasting impact.
So when people ask how I do it all, I tell them this:
I don’t just hustle, I honor the calling.
I don’t just show up, I build what I needed when I was coming up.
And I don’t do it for attention, I do it for legacy.
This is bigger than business. It’s about becoming the bridge I once needed and creating space for others to cross too.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Juggling an IT career in the federal government, a growing real estate business, nonprofit work, and health insurance licensing in five states wasn’t easy. There were times I felt like I was giving from an empty cup. Showing up for everyone else while quietly trying to hold myself together. Time management, burnout, and learning to ask for help were real battles.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about To Elevate Impact?
My proudest extension of my work is my nonprofit organization, created to serve the underprivileged through education, access to healthcare, and affordable housing opportunities. We host community workshops, partner with local service providers, and walk alongside people who are often overlooked; helping them take steps toward stability and growth.
What sets me apart?
I build relationships. I bring intentionality, integrity, and impact into every space I enter. My brand is built on trust, and I’m proud to say that much of my work comes from referrals and people who know I deliver, not just results, but real care.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending time with my family laughing, talking, and just being present. We had love, resilience, and a sense of togetherness that shaped how I see the world today. Those moments taught me the value of connection and creating joy from the simplest things. It’s a big part of why I serve the way I do now, because I know what it feels like to grow up with little, yet feel like you have everything.
