Hi Makeda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story started about 10 years after I felt the need for a change in my professional and personal life. I was in school obtaining my bachelor’s degree and was at a crossroads between being an entrepreneur and finding a job in my field.
I decided to take the job route but knew deep down this was temporary.
I would not be satisfied until I was operating my business. A few years later, several jobs later and several degrees later lol, I now have several businesses that I own and operate. It’s amazing how we may have one plan but life shows us different.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being an entrepreneur is not easy but well worth it. I would not trade absolutely anything I have encountered throughout this process. The road has been bumpy, full of u-turns, and at times smooth sailing, but the variations in traveling this road are similar to the changes we have in life. My biggest struggle thus far was not being in myself and occupying my mind with thoughts of doubt.
As I cleared the fear and doubt and step into my potential. I started to visualize what I wanted for my business and invest and things slowly started to prosper. Obstacles and challenges will arise but the main goal is to keep striving and never give up on your dream.
