Today we’d like to introduce you to Mario Davis.
Hi Mario, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Mario aka DJ Yo! I was born in Los Angeles, California. Move to South Memphis when I was 8 years old. That was a crazy experience! On my 1st day of school in South Memphis, my hat got stolen. My parents stayed up the street from some drug dealers. My dad didn’t want me to end up like drug dealers and thugs. So my dad got me some turntables. So, I wouldn’t hang out with the drug dealers. I start messing around and practicing with the turntables all the way up to high school.
Now, my high school friends know I DJ now. So, I start djing my high school and local around Memphis! Selling mixtapes on Beale street! I graduated from high school moved to Las Vegas, and ATL did some gigs out there. Came back to Memphis and open up my own licensed entertainment business called (Yo Entertainment!) which has my 1st artist my son, Tyler Luvv sign to (Yo Entertainment!). I feel music is the life I love and what I do!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Has not been a smooth road… Bad car accident in Vegas, broke my ankle and femur bone, homeless in ATL.
