Today we’d like to introduce you to Mario Woods.
Hi Mario, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For me, security wasn’t just a paycheck—it was a responsibility. A calling. A lifestyle. I showed up sharp, disciplined, and professional every single day. While others clocked in, I stood on post like lives depended on me—because they did.
But not everybody respected that.
While working for Walden Security, I gave everything I had. Corporate locations, high-visibility posts, responsibilities that demanded excellence—I handled them all. I represented the brand with pride, structure, and leadership… even when leadership didn’t represent me the same way.
Behind the scenes, things were different.
I was being overlooked. Lied on. Used.
They saw my work ethic… and instead of rewarding it, they exploited it.
I admit I’m not perfect and I’ve made mistakes along my journey with Walden and thankful I made it out.
I carried weight that wasn’t mine—covering gaps, stepping up when others fell short, holding operations together. But when it came time for recognition, respect, or real compensation… silence.
Or worse… disrespect.
I remember weeks where I gave everything—long hours, no complaints, keeping operations tight—and still barely brought home $400.
That wasn’t just a number—that was pressure.
Because I wasn’t just working for me.
I had a wife depending on me.
Elderly parents who needed me.
And I had loyalty to my right-hand—my President, my business partner—David Sharp.
There were days I was drained. Days I questioned everything. Days I felt like I was doing everything right… and still losing.
But what they didn’t understand was this:
They weren’t just underpaying me.
They were building something in me.
Every moment of disrespect became fuel.
Every lie became clarity.
Every setback became strategy.
And that’s when I realized I had to turn my pain into purpose and help others see the way I cried out of
I wasn’t falling apart…
I was falling forward, and it was very ugly
There comes a moment in every man’s life where he has to decide—
Do I keep accepting this… or do I build something better?
I chose to build.
Not out of anger.
But out of purpose.
I knew what security was supposed to look like.
I knew how officers were supposed to be treated.
I knew what professionalism really meant.
So I created what they refused to give me.
Heavyweight Protection Services.
Not just a company… a standard.
Heavyweight wasn’t built overnight.
It was built through struggle. Through sacrifice. Through sleepless nights and uncomfortable decisions.
We didn’t have everything—but we had vision.
We didn’t have big contracts—but we had integrity.
We didn’t have perfect conditions—but we had discipline.
I made a promise:
Guards would be respected.
Operations would be structured.
Clients would be protected at a high level.
And nobody under my leadership would feel the way I felt.
This wasn’t just business.
This was redemption.
Heavyweight became more than security.
It became a movement.
A system built on accountability, brotherhood, professionalism, and protection with purpose.
We weren’t just standing posts…
We were protecting communities.
We were creating opportunities.
We were building something that would outlive us.
Looking back, I don’t regret the struggle.
Because without the pressure… there would be no Heavyweight.
Without the disrespect… there would be no standard.
Without the $400 weeks… there would be no vision for something greater.
I didn’t start Heavyweight Protection Services because it was easy.
I started it because it was necessary.
I was built for more… and I refused to let my environment define my value.
Now we set the standard.
Heavyweight Protection Services
“The company that cares about you and your assets.”
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No it has not been a smoothe road an its been an uphill battle to make it right.
We have took so many different losses as a small business. We have been operating on our own budget we created. No funding, no grant money, no loans, all from sacrifices and grit an grind mentality of Memphis. Seen people at the clubs, bars, and some event promoters not value professional security no more than paying security last an even the dishwasher gets paid a respected better than that. We put our life on the line for you so don’t be an ass to us.’’If we can’t respect you we can’t protect you. Trust no one but GOD’’.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We don’t observe and report, we prevent a Protect its a big difference.Commercial Security for all corporate , Government contracts, private events, executive protection, 24/7 security patrol etc. Our network sets us apart from everyone along with the eagle brand a uniform was well thought out and designed by David E Mosley JR and myself and trademarked as well so I own the brand. I want the readers to know we are here to serve the community and keep all of our clients happy with healthy communication an HONESTY. We are licensed and Bonded as well.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was told that I was a special child by my mother growing up a poor kid with a dream of being a great uncle, father, son, brother, and cousin I could be for my family and close friends. When I was a child I was always curious on how things worked. They called me when they need something fixed around the house. I’ve always had a knack for sports and loved the outdoors. I’ve always had a personality when it comes to laughter count me in still to this day. Gentle Giant.
