Community Highlights: Meet Meg DeLong of The Tidy Home Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg DeLong.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The Tidy Home began as a sister-run organizing business with a pretty simple goal: help people feel better in their homes!

We realized quickly that most families, especially busy moms, aren’t struggling because they’re messy, they’re struggling because their homes aren’t designed to support real life. We decided we wanted to help people create homes that are functional, calm, and beautiful through practical systems, and systems that can last for years or have the ability to be flexible for them throughout life changes.

Our focus is always on solutions that are realistic, things that work for busy households, small spaces, and real budgets. We believe organizing isn’t about perfectionism, it’s about choosing what truly serves you and creating systems that make everyday life easier. Really being intentional with your home.

What started with in-home organizing, and growing our team of 2 to 4. our mission grew larger! We have grown our following to close to 300k on social media, we love sharing our ideas online, and that led to use writing our first book *Tidying Up: 100 Ways to Infuse Order and Joy in Every Area of Your Home*!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I mean honestly, it’s been pretty smooth, but that doesn’t mean things haven’t constantly changed! The number one advice we give folks getting into small-business life is that YOU HAVE TO BE FLEXIBLE! If you can’t be flexible you’re going to feel constantly overwhelmed because owning your own business if full of change and re-navigating things you thought you’d figured out. We’ve always been very flexible, I think it’s in our nature to know we can’t control absolutely everything, so when things pop up that need to be re-thought, we put our heads together and try to figure it out. Whether that’s figuring out client pricing, social media strategies, employee rates, our schedules, we try to be open and flexible to what needs to change.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Tidy Home is a professional organizing brand founded by sisters who believe that a well-organized home isn’t about perfection, it’s about creating a space that supports the life you’re actually living. Our work began with in-home organizing, helping families transform overwhelming spaces into homes that feel calm, functional, and joyful.

We specialize in practical, realistic organizing systems, especially for busy households and small spaces. Our approach focuses on solutions that are accessible and sustainable, using thoughtful layouts, smart storage, and budget-friendly products that make everyday life easier. We’re known for creating spaces that not only function beautifully but also feel welcoming and personal.

What sets us apart is that we don’t approach organizing from a place of minimalism or perfectionism. Instead, we focus on intentional living, helping people keep what they love while creating systems that support their routines. We believe a home should reflect the people who live there, not a picture-perfect standard.

Over time, The Tidy Home has grown beyond in-home projects into a larger platform where we share organizing ideas, resources, and education online. We also co-authored the book *Tidying Up: 100 Ways to Infuse Order and Joy in Every Area of Your Home*, which brings our philosophy and systems to readers who want approachable ways to organize their homes room by room.

Brand-wise, what we’re most proud of is building a community around the idea that organization should feel empowering, not intimidating. Our goal has always been to show people that creating a tidy home is achievable with the right systems, thoughtful choices, and a little creativity.

What we want readers to know most is that a tidy home isn’t about having less, it’s about having what works for you, and making space for the life you want to live.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
We really love Nashville! We moved here in 2007 so it’s changed a ton since then, but we love that people are finding so much joy and happiness and fun when they come here. It’s such a great city with so much to do! But I am so sad with how many local restaurants and businesses closing due to their increase property taxes. Nashville has always been so full of local food and gift shops, and we hate to see any of those close!
