Community Highlights: Meet Michael “Mike Gutta” Gibson of Self Made Culture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael “Mike Gutta” Gibson.

Hi Michael “Mike Gutta”, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Self Made Culture Inc. out of a passion for fashion and a desire to create something unique that represents individuality and hustle. I’ve always been drawn to custom apparel and the idea of building a brand that connects with people who value authenticity and self-expression.

Originally, I was living in Baton Rouge, where I began experimenting with designing and selling custom clothing locally. As I gained experience and confidence, I realized there was a bigger opportunity to grow and reach a wider audience. That’s when I made the move to Dallas a city with a vibrant culture and more resources to help scale the business.

Since then, Self Made Culture Inc. has evolved from a small passion project into a full-fledged clothing line with custom apparel offerings. Along the way, I’ve learned a lot about the importance of branding, customer engagement, and staying true to the values that inspired me to start the business in the first place.

It’s been a challenging journey, but the growth and connection with the community keep me motivated. I’m excited about what’s next and continuing to build Self Made Culture Inc. into a recognized name in custom apparel.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road definitely hasn’t been completely smooth — and honestly, I think that’s part of what makes the journey meaningful. Like any business, Self Made Culture Inc. has faced its share of challenges.

One of the biggest struggles early on was finding the right balance between creativity and the business side of things. Designing unique apparel is one thing, but handling production, marketing, and sales requires a different skill set. There were times when I had to learn those business skills on the fly, and that came with plenty of trial and error.

Another challenge was breaking into a competitive market. The apparel industry, especially custom clothing, is packed with brands, so standing out and building a loyal customer base took time and persistence. Plus, moving to a new city like Dallas meant rebuilding local connections and understanding a different market.

Supply chain hiccups and managing inventory also caused some headaches, especially when demand started picking up. It was a learning curve to find reliable partners and manage costs effectively.

But each struggle taught me something valuable whether it was better marketing strategies, customer service insights, or just building resilience. Those tough moments helped shape Self Made Culture Inc. into what it is today. The key was staying focused, adapting, and keeping the passion alive.

We’ve been impressed with Self Made Culture, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
