Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Since I was a child, I’ve always wanted to change the world. I didn’t know exactly how, but I knew I was meant to create something that would make a lasting impact. Over time, that vision became clearer as I realized how much our health—physically, mentally, and spiritually—affects every aspect of our lives. SovereignTea was born out of my own personal health journey. I’ve always struggled with my weight, whether dieting, working out or even fasting, it fluctuated.
During the pandemic, I faced weight gain and low energy, so I turned to oolong tea( my personal old faithful) as a natural way to transform. In just three months, I lost 25 pounds and truly felt balanced for the first time. This experience opened my eyes to the healing power of nature, and I knew I had to share it with the world. I spent months learning about herbalism, natural living, and formulation, which prompted me to create blends for everyday health concerns. What started as an online tea business in 2020, has now evolved into a full wellness company, with an upcoming cafe.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Ha! The road has been far from smooth, yet every challenge has played a role in shaping my journey. One of my biggest struggles was overcoming “imposter syndrome”, the internal battle of questioning if I’m truly ready or qualified to step into this role. I’ve had moments where I wondered if I was making the right moves, but I always come back to my purpose. I always had to remind myself that this is bigger than me, it’s about creating products & and a space for healing, community, and wellness. Next was the horrific struggle of securing funding.
Having the desire to turn my vision into a reality required resources that I didn’t always have, but I stayed persistent by applying for grants, looking for opportunities, and trusting that everything would align in perfect time…and it did! Lastly, the challenge of finding the perfect location for my café. I wanted a local space that aligned with my vision to serve the community and the world, which took patience, determination, and a lot of faith.
Despite it all, I wouldn’t change a thing. Every challenge has made me stronger, more resourceful, and better prepared for what’s ahead. The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been worth every step!

SovereignTea is an herbal tea company that provides herbal blends to heal from within. We offer herbal teas for your everyday wellness needs like anxiety, insomnia, weight loss, headaches, pain relief and more. We’re opening a wellness cafe in Downtown Memphis to be a healing oasis of the body, mind, and spirit. We specialize in herbal teas, fresh-pressed juices, smoothies, and customizable fruit and salad bowls, all made with natural, local, high-quality ingredients.
What sets us apart is that we’re combining healthy foods and drinks with holistic wellness. Inside the café, we have a wellness studio offering yoga, meditation, wellness coaching and other wellness modalities. There will also be a conference area where we host wellness classes, seminars, and workshops for the community and members; providing a space where people can nourish their bodies and minds at the same time.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how SovereignTea has made a name for itself, while I’ve gained my own in the process. It still warms me up inside when I see supporters who recall me from the beginning, see me now with so much joy and excitement because they’ve witnessed the journey & how far I’ve come. Being coined the “Tea Lady” has given me reassurance that the cafe will not only showcase my personal wellness journey, but also my belief that true healing starts from within.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
First and foremost, I have to give glory to God! (*insert praise hands emoji*)..this journey has required a lot of faith, and I truly believe every challenge and victory has been divinely aligned. My family and close friends have been my biggest cheerleaders. Whether it was supporting my early pop-ups, taste-testing new tea blends, or simply reminding me to keep going when things got tough, their belief in me has been immeasurable.
I also have to acknowledge ALL of my supporters and customers(personal & business). From the very beginning, people have embraced my teas, shared their testimonials, and spread the word about SovereignTea. Every purchase, every encouraging message, and every returning customer has played a role in my success.
Lastly, I’ve been fortunate to connect with other entrepreneurs, business mentors, and local organizations & leaders who have guided me through the ups and downs of building a business. Whether it was advice on funding, business development, or just reminding me that imposter syndrome is a lie, their wisdom and support have been priceless.
This journey has been a collective effort, and I’m beyond grateful for everyone who has poured into me along the way.
